I searched and searched...so now I ask...

When you first open DVD Profiler, you see the images of your movies, and in the upper left hand corner you see a flag indicator, this is great (and useful), now is it possible to add another indicator in the upper right hand corner you can set when a movie has been watched?

Maybe when you click it - an eyeball shows up to show it has been watched, or something like that.

Keep it fun, thanks for all your help and support.

Welcome to the forum

First of all, you can set and view your "Watched" history by right-clicking a movie title and going to "View History..."

Next, you can right-click anywhere within the list of movies and go to "View Columns -> Last Watched" this will put a new column to the right of the titles giving the dates that the movies were last watched as set by the dates you used in the View History. Columns can also be moved around by clicking on their names and dragging them left and right.

But as for a simple check mark flag, no, that is not possible with the default settings. (There is a slight possibility using custom windows it could be done, but that's over-complicating things quite a bit for you and likely isn't still possible to just "click, it's now been watched."

Thank you -

View History - found that - added a few to test.

Works great in list mode, but not with thumbs.

Custom Windows?  I have a hard enough time with regular Windows…

And as for "not with default settings" - unfortunately - I figured that...well poop...

Maybe in the next update…(hint hint)

Have a great holiday...be safe...

Yea, custom windows are a very helpful feature, but they require writing or finding scripts that serve different purposes, and even then you might have to change things a little to suit your own needs. Depending on the person, they aren't something you may dive into full steam.

But you are right, new request: a simple flag indicating a movie has been watched at least once.

Nice one!

Meanwhile, if you want to have some fun with command files:

(1) Save a filter called "Watched" using the Filters panel. "Watched" flag is in the Personal section.
(2) Create a Command File (use Notepad), Watched.txt, with the following contents in the MyDocuments\DVD Profiler folder:
Quote:

CollectionType All
CollectionView Thumbnails
ClearAllFilters
UnflagAll
LoadFilterSet "Watched"
FlagAll
ClearAllFilters
MenuCommand "Collection\Sort By\Flagged First"

For an even faster command, but it assumes that your view is already set up:
Quote:

UnflagAll
LoadFilterSet "Watched"
FlagAll

Now you can run your command file any time you want to create the view.

If you want to play with a plugin, try MyTools. It will let you attach an icon to your command file, and put it on the toolbar of your choice. Then, to create the view, just click the icon.

Command files are simple, very powerful and completely documented in the DVDP Help (F1).

+1
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

APM, welcome to the forums!

Using History (CTRL-H) is one way to set 'watched by',  I use the direct approach: CTRL-W which summons the 'set watched by' dialog immediately.

Going back to the original request:
Yes, currently to see the watched movies in your collection list is via the 'flag' feature. I too would like a separate visual indicator, whatever way the collection list is displayed. That said, it might require some tinkering with defined users: watched by all defined users, watched by at least one of them, watched by one specified user (like the main profiler user on the PC), etc.

However, it isn't a top priority for me. There are a number of requests that to me are a bit more important for Invelos to set the teeth into (the naming/linking issues for one, separation of release data vs. movie data, to name two of them).
Eric

If it is important, say it. Otherwise, let silence speak.

If you are saying what I think you are, DVDP command files are not the same as Windows command files. There should be no danger of any damage to your computer. Is that what you meant?

Another possible work-around:
Collection Hints - I have the Mithi Lightblue Custom Hint german that shows a logo indicating that this title is unwatched or the showing the date of the last watch-event.

Not sure if you run the BulkEdit plugin or not, but I am in the process of adding Collection \ Flags \ Flag Watched.
