| | Posted: | | | | I noticed in the Genres that there is a TV Genre. This is silly. Calling TV a Genre is like calling a stadium a sport. A stadium is where you can watch a specific sport, and TV is where you can watch a specific genre. It should be removed as it is erroneous data.
My other request is that when searching for actor images by double-clicking on the blank image, and it opens up google images (great way to do it btw) I would like it if it would open up into the SAME page as last time, rather a new page every time. This would effectively cut the number of mouse clicks necessary by half, because you wouldn't have to close the old window every time a new one opens.

| | Posted: | | | | Genres are very subjective and, as such, I wouldn't want to remove something someone else uses. Many people like TV as a genre for a variety of reasons. For example, keeping statistical data of how many TV series they own.
If you don't like the genre, change your DVD collection's genre to the way you like and lock that information so it doesn't get overridden when you update your collection.
As far as your spelling error, you can correct it. On the top of the page, on the left hand side next to Subject, there is a purple button with a pencil. This will allow the initial poster to change that data. |

| | Posted: | | | | I agree with what Kathy said about the Television genre... it isn't the only thing listed in the genres that isn't a true genre. But at least until there is another option to be able to filter and search only the TV shows I wouldn't want it removed from the genre list.

Now... give us a new filterable field something like Theatrical Release / Television / Direct to Video (and any other that may need to be added to such a list)... and I would be all for removing it from genres.

Kathy is right as usual  You don't have to use a genre if you don't like it, I for one hate one of the genre in the default list (most people here know wich one I think) and I just don't use it. Ken will not removed something already here (I tried in the past with my hated genre with no results), mostly because you can use it to filter your collection. |

I see no point in removing the TV genre (which I agree is not a genre, but I still use it anyway) when you have so many options to ignore it. | | | Karsten

Creating a field along the lines of Pete's suggestion and THEN removing TV from genres seems like the best solution to me. But until then, I'd say: leave it. One reason to keep it in one form or another that I haven't heard so far in this thread is that the contribution rules are different for TV series. This being the case, it's helpful (if nothing else, for the screeners!) to have an indicator of what is TV and what isn't. --------------- I've never been able to figure out Tags so that wouldn't be an option for me...unless you want to come to my house and set it up for me!  Pete's suggestion of a filterable field sounds like a great idea. |
