| | Posted: | | | | Right now I backup my DB on my main computer and import it on my netbook (SLOW!). I can connect to a shared DB but that only works when I'm at home on the network.
I would like to be able to sync the local DB on the netbook with the DB on my main computer without having to manually copy over the whole thing. Even if it was one way (one DB is the master) it would be a lot better. | | | | Tom. |

Could you not just keep the Profiler data folders in sync across multiple computers? |

Could you not just keep the Profiler data folders in sync across multiple computers? Not a fan of "Windows Live" anything...  I think SyncToy (or some other local sync tool) would be a better choice (and it works on XP, I think Live Sync needs Vista). Is it safe to just sync the database folder? Nothing else stuck in some other place that could cause problems? | | | | Tom. |

DVD Profiler
CreditPhotos
Databases
Filters
Flags
Layouts
Reports
ScenePhotos
translations
While the Databases is the important folder i copy them all so i have the layouts and extra photos captured as well.

| | Posted: | | | | I gave SyncToy (one of the free MS Power Toys) a try. I set it up to sync the DVD Profiler folder from my master copy to my second computer and ran it.
Then I updated the master and added one new DVD that I bought today. Ran sync again. It took 31 seconds to run updating 32 files. All of the updates are there on the second computer and it takes a LOT less time then backing up the DB and restoring.
Getting the computers talking was the easy part for me (network admin is part of my job) but I didn't know if DVD Profiler put everything that needs to be synced in one place since some programs like to scatter stuff all over the place. | | | | Tom. | | | | Last edited: by Tom Smith |
