I've Been noticing for a long time that the drop down box for Country of Origin has two Canada's . One for Canada ( good) .. ,and one for Canada/ Quebec ( bad) ..
Quebec is part of Canada it is not a separate Country ( not yet anyway)..
So any films that have Canadian 'roots' and was produced / filmed / funded thru ther Province of Quebec, - IT would be Canada., period.

I know we have this Locality issue with ratings and language issues for DVD's but CoO  should be just Canada only..

Can this remedy and fix be put forward to the Next Profiler Update??

Thanks

+1

I didn't even realize this was the case, and it's pretty goofy to have it in there twice. I'm gonna have filter my collection now to see if I have any Canada/Quebec CoO movies.

I've never noticed that before.

I may be wrong, but isn't the problem that the CoO list, locality list and the ratings lists are connected, so in order to have the Quebec ratings, you need Quebec as a CoO?

Maybe Ken could shed some light on this and offer any hints of a fix..

Exactly. Please Terry don't make a big deal with something that isn't. There nothing to fix here and this isn't even something who concern the ROC

He's talking about CoO not locality. Selecting Canada (Quebec) as locality will give the Quebec ratings not by selecting it as CoO.

Like I sayd nothing to fix... Locality, rating and country of origins are all linked in DVDP. It's the way it was programmed and we can't have the Province of Quebec ratings without having them as a COO. The thing that Terry do here is to do cheap politics wich isn't permitted arccording to the forum rules.

Wich means that there is nothing to discuss here and that this topic must be closed since it's a violation of the non-politics talking on the forum.

Why would the country of origin be linked to the locality? I can't see how it is and would like it pointed out to me...

They seem separate to me -

The Locality table goes from Japan to Netherlands whilst CoO also has Malaysia & Mexico in the list.

Cheap politics, nothing to discuss or fix. No offense but that doesn't concern British, American or whatever others nationality users. Thinks work and are different here...

There obviously is something to fix. Canada is one country and should be noted as such in the CoO field. I LOL at your 'doesn't concern' comment. It concerns anyone who owns Canadian films.

There's nothing political about it - An issue with the program was raised by a user of the program.

I never even stated my opinion, only that the two tables don't seem to be linked (at least not entirely).

Edit: As Sam says, it concerns anyone who owns films made in Canada.

According to Wikipedia Quebec is almost like a country within a country (think of Scotland within the UK only more so) and so I guess it's possible for a film to have a CoO of Quebec.

It also sounds like the rest of Canada like to wind them up about it (again think Scotland within the UK only more so), explaining AESP's "sensitivity".

It's not another country though, and until it is it should be merged for CoO as they are no other identifying features that will change. Obviously we can't change it for locality due to the way the rating system is integrated.

(Oh, I lived in Ontario -CFB Borden- for three years as a teen. Great place. My youngest brother was born in Toronto).

I think ratings are connected to locality only, and have nothing to do with CoO.
