| Posted: | | | | How should I list the titled person? The person has zero CLT results by Jaime Gonzalez or by J. Dog and the way the person is credited would be a nightmare to parse. Tempted to go Jaime Gonzalez (as Jaime Gonzalez - J. Dog) but that would be incorrect as per the rules as far as I can make out. | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

Based on the rule: "If an actor's credited name includes a nickname, highlighted by ", ’ or ( ), list it in the middle name field." | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | That works for me, then just use the credited as field to show how it is on screen.
Unfortunately it looks like you have the only DVD release for this film, which is why no results show in the CLT. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

I've never been entirely clear on that - the rule James mentioned says to put the nickname in the "middle name" field regardless of where it's shown on-screen, but it says nothing about the "credited as" field... |

I have to agree with Northbloke. No matter how that particular rule notes how to enter the name, the way the person is credited should still be noted correctly (IMO of course). | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

| Posted: | | | | Correct, I only suggested it so we would end up with the on-screen credit getting recorded. I can't think of anything in the rules that would prevent it. We simply get the best of both worlds - the entered name follows the nickname rule, but we still get the credited name as well. |

Well, for me, I believe the only occasions where I've had to apply the nickname rule, it exclusively concerned people for which it's the only credit in the database, just like in samuelrichardscott's example. So effectively, this would cause a batch of "credited as" usages with no real reason. It's just nickname-in-the-middle, credited as nickname at the end. The film 'Nacho Libre' jumps to mind, with eleven of such entries, neither of those names appearing in any other form in the database. So I don't really see the point, but I'm happy to do it, if that's the consensus. As I said: I was simply never clear on this. |

| Posted: | | | | To me it's a similar situation to the new honorifics rule. We are told to enter the name in a certain way (no honorifics/nickname in the middle) but to use credited as to record the actual credit (honorifics/nickname at end).
I just want to clarify, I'm not saying it should be done this way, I'm just saying how I would do it. I certainly wouldn't vote against another option. And the rules don't seem to prevent it, so why not? |

| Posted: | | | | James is correct for the name entry. I would consider a credited as entry optional in this case. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | We know from previous posts Ken doesn't have everything cast in stone. There is just a very small *cough 1 cough* group of users who are adamant that there is only one way to do everything. Thanks for posting Ken. Now get back to work on the iPhone version so you can start on the Droid one. I need a new phone badly! BTW James... how does it feel to be officially correct! Still doesn't negate the fact that a long time ago in a galaxy far far away you voted yes for a pennies change in an SRP submission, but you are making progress. |
