| | Posted: | | | | I've got two DVD from Amazon.ca, both not in the DB.
One is a double pack of Blind Date + My Stepmother is an Alien. Only English titles on cover and spine.
The other is Quick Change, both English and French title on cover and spine.
Is there a general rule or do I go by instinct? | | | Karsten

| | Posted: | | | | The way I understand it, the double pack one will go to Canada, whilst the quick change one can go to both. For Canada, only the English info is entered whilst Canada Quebec, only the French info is entered. |

So Quick Change would actually get 2 profiles - one for each language. |

| | Posted: | | | | I've got numerous DVD packages that the rear overview is only in English Only ( One large text Box), and No French on the Front/Rear cover.., but it has the Canadian flags on the bottom rear cover - That would be Canadian locality.
The overviews that have two large Text boxes on rear cover with French language in the bottom case (and most often) the Front Cover has French in 'Italics' for the Title of the film -would then be Canada/Quebec locality .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. This isn't true by any means. DVD's with two overviews, one English and one French, with a French title on the cover as well, absolutely do NOT automatically get entered as Canada/Quebec. The main profiles to get submitted to the Canada/Quebec locality are dvds that have a separate Quebec rating on them (not just the standard Canadian rating) and generally have the French overview first (if there even is an english overview) and the main title written in French (with the English title written underneath... again, even if there is one). It's generally about the rating and the title (whether or not the "main" title is in enlish or french). If the DVD has a Quebec rating on it (or the packaging the dvd comes in), you're safe to submit it to the Canada/Quebec locality, if it doesn't, if it has the general Canada rating (G, PG, 14A, 18A, R) you're most likely dealing with just a regular Canadian locality dvd. If the main title is english with french underneath, Canadian locality (although this one can go to both localities). Good luck finding a dvd cover with the Quebec rating on it Merrik... The rating here is a round sticker who is place on the dvd wrapping and not printed on the cover. Of course someone will find one written on the cover just to prove me wrong, but it isn't the normal way it's done in the Province of Quebec. Why I know? I'm French Canadian of course and I love how the Board of cinema do it here (but it's almost impossible to resell a dvd here because you must keep the sticker). |
