| Posted: | | | | I recently picked up a DVD that I'm not sure the profile has the correct locality for. Since I acquire almost everything second hand, where I got it is no help.
The movie in question is Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch UPC 774212209239.
The profile I downloaded is USA locality, but I'm leaning toward the idea that it should be Canada. Here's why:
The back of the package displays only a Canadian rating symbol. Below the credit block and the logos is written in small print "Distributed Exclusively in Canada by SEVILLE PICTURES". The cover scan included with the profile matches mine.
The disc has the film title on the top half of the disc, and "Tobby Le frappeur etoile" on the bottom half, and also has the same phrase about Seville as the package, as well as copyright information in both English & French (there's no French in the overview though).
What do the rest of you think? Also, if you think it should be Canada, is there any way to change the current profile rather than create a new one?
---
The other question that I had was this: I don't remember if there was a consensus about stunt personnel and whether or not to include them if they were listed with/near the cast. Here's the cast set up:
Cast role - actor SPACE stunt players - names SPACE stunt drivers - names SPACE Buddy - names MUCH LARGER SPACE Keystone Business Affairs - name ... rest of the crew
Since we track animal actors, obviously I'm listing the actors that played Buddy. However, I can't remember if I'm supposed to list the Stunt Players & Stunt Drivers, or if I skip over them and just list the human actors & dog actors. So ... thoughts? | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | Seville Pictures is a Montreal based distribution company.
They list the DVD on their website with a release date of Aug 27, 2002.
Plus the fact that it appears Disney released this movie in the US, in Aug 2002, I would say your DVD is strictly Canada/Canada (Quebec). I'm not sure on the rules to decide between those 2 though. |

| Posted: | | | | I took a look at the Quebec profile. The overview is in French, but unfortunately the cover image attached is too small to determine if the actual cover is in French.
I believe - Canadians correct me if I'm wrong! - that DVDs released in Quebec must have either a French overview or an overview in both English & French. So if mine is Canadian as it appears to be then it should be listed as Canada rather than Quebec. My suspicion is that the disc was the same for both (hence the French on the disc) and that an English overview was used for the rest of Canada (hence the lack of French). | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | It's a Canadian profile. If the back cover contains both an English and French synopsis, and the only rating shown is a Canadian rating, it should be Canadian locality (if that doesn't sinch it, the distributed exclusively in Canada notice sure does). There may also be Canadian specific rating details on the back... which are standard and not made up on the spot like some of the ratings the MPAA seem to throw at us are. I can't count the number of times I've typed in the UPC for a dvd that I've purchased, which is absolutely a Canadian locality profile, only to see a single U.S. locality profile for it in the system. It's usually a disc carried over from those good old days that seem to cause more than a few problems, or an error by the original submittor, who has submitted it as U.S. locality (and usually with a U.S. SRP which pisses me off to no end... totally one of my pet peeves... ). Unfortunately, there's absolutely no way to just change the locality of a profile and a new profile for the Canadian locality will need to be created and submitted (I feel your pain, I've had to do it numerous times). As for determining between Canada and Canada (Quebec), Canada (Quebec) to my knowledge, may only have a French synopsis on them (or the french synopsis is at least printed before the english one) and Canada (Quebec) dvds will specifically have their own distinct rating system located on the DVD. http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=415404 I lay out the Canadian ratings in the first post of that thread, and AESP_pres lays out the Canada (Quebec) ratings in the second thread. Here's visuals for the Canadian rating system: http://www.cmpda.ca/?q=content/logos-and-what-they-mean That page, at the bottom also includes the Canadian specific rating details that appear on Canadian dvd's (starting with Not Recommended For Young Children). Hope this helps you out! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. | | | Last edited: by Merrik |

| Posted: | | | | In general, if I have any doubts regarding the proper locality of a profile, the first thing I look at is the rating on the cover. If there are one or more rating symbols on the cover, that tells you that that particular disc has at the very least been released in the locality of the rating system in question. Over here in Europe we are familiar with multi-locality releases, e.g. Nordic releases for Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. You'll typically find the rating symbols for all these countries on the cover. Then there are pan-European releases (very common for music DVDs) - these often have a German rating and the UK's E rating. Therefore they can in any case be legitimately entered for the German and UK localities. So to me, the rating system used on the cover is leading in deciding on the locality. Factors such as the Overview's language(s) can play a role too, but not always - e.g. in the pan-European music releases I mentioned earlier it is quite common to have an overview in English only, even though it is released throughout Europe. Here's an overview of various rating systems. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks guys for confirming what I thought about it being Canadian! I see a lot of USA/Canada releases (at least by the presence of both ratings on the cover) but this was the first I'd seen with just the Canadian rating on it. There's no French on the package or Quebec rating, so it must simply be Canada.
So, before I submit the new profile, any thoughts on whether I should enter those Stunt Players & Stunt Drivers? | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | If I remember correctly since there is a space between the cast and the stunt... the stunt would be left out. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Basically, it's this:
HUMAN CAST - space - STUNT PLAYERS - space - STUNT DRIVERS - space - DOG CAST - bigger space - CREW
Normally I'd leave out the Stunt people, but the fact that they're stuck between the actors is what I don't remember about leaving them out. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |
