In add dialog -> By UPC.

Say I enter a UPC number.
1. A single profile is listed - I would like see that profiles locality (like it does with 2 or more in the list).
2. If the locality of that profile that I select, is not "my prefered" locality, it could automatically set it to my prefered locality after I click the Add DVD button.

This "my prefered" locality could be set in options, which I imagine, would be a visual list of some kind, also it should probably be a opt in/out setting on it.

Moreover...
If "my prefered" locality could be set in options, the collection list could then display those profiles with "other" localities with some kind of visual difference (background or a icon).

When 1) is met I can see the wrong locality and then it's (for me) no problem to go to DVD->Change Locality

Too much colours for my taste. The recently released are already shown, someone else asked for a different colour for Blu-rays, ... and what if an entry matches more than one criteria (a recently released Blu-ray?)

I don't want to turn the collection list into technicolor rainbow.

As  long as you can switch the colours on and off, I don't mind.

#2 might be prolematical, there are not only a few users who buy DVDs from multiple locations (I have at least three different locations in my database). An automatic change might do more harm here than it does good.

#3: if #1 is implemented it would be too much colour for my taste, but as long as this feature could be switched off, I wouldn't mind
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Fully agree! I'm one of those users who are buying from many localities, so all this would do for me is introduce errors in my database.

The next version 3.6 build adds display of the locality if it doesn't match the users' default.

Since "my prefered" locality or localities would probably have been optional, my guess would then be that you would opt out on this automation. hehe... :D

I do!
Anyway, I don't think I even seen a single profile in my list(s) with background colour. I think its because I've never used the functionality you speak of.
