I just upgraded Death Race to Blu-Ray and am noticing lots of differences between the crew credits despite it being the same movie. No problm, I'll just audit the Blu and be done.... not so easy.

For writing, the opening credits say:
"Based on Death Race 2000 Produced by Roger Corman"
Then "Screen Story and Screenplay by Paul W.S. Anderson"

The BD gives Corman an OMB credit, the dvd doesn't (these are just exitsing profiles, not ness, correct). Then the dvd has OMB credits for Robert Thom, Chalres Griffith and Ib Melchior. These 3 guys are mentioned near the end of the credits for
"Based on the original screenplay by (first 2 guys)" then "story by Ib Meclchoir"

I think the first 2 OMB's are right, but what about story by? What about the other story by in opening credits? Should Corman be removed as he was a producer and didn't write the orginal?

I would suggest:
OMB for Thom, Griffith and Melchior (because it is all based on their material, no matter who of them wrote the screenplay and who wrote the story) and two credits for Anderson for (Screen) Story and Screenplay. No writing credit for Corman at all because he was only the producer of the first Death Race, although he might have written parts of it uncredited.

No credit for Roger Corman.
OMB for Paul W.S. Anderson
OMB for Robert Thom, Charles Griffith and Ib Melchior

I would only give Anderson one OMB credit.  I see no useful purpose for giving him two of the same credit.

You don't list the "Story By" credit in the opening credits, but it should go into DVDP also.

I agree with Hal.

Why would Anderson get OMB?  Shouldn't he get the Story and Screenplay credits?  He wrote the story and screenplay for the remake, not the original (that was Thom, Griffith and Melchior).

I'd agree on the rest of it.

I don't want to speak for Hal, but I misread the original post.  I read it as saying that the film was based on Death Race 2000 that was produced by Roger Corman from a Screen Story and Screenplay by Paul W.S. Anderson.

Thanks for the replies folks, pretty much confirmed my thoughts.
I could tell Hal mis-read the first post so I didn't even bother to mention it, I knew what ya meant.

I just submitted it with both credits for Anderson, none for Corman, and OMB for the 3 who deserve it, which amazingly matches the dvd info exactly (sans one SFX I don't feel desereves credit)
So far 8 happy co-owners.

Yes, that is the way I read it also.  Not having the film and being able to actually read the credits, I relied on the way the OP listed them, and assumed that the Anderson credits were related to "Death Race 2000".

If they refer to this release of "Death Race" then they certainly should be listed as Gardibolt has stated.

Wow, at least 25 other profilers have this Blu or have it on the their collection (maybe a few wishlists and/or ordered there, but still). 25-0 on the votes so far.
Take that all you Paul Anderson haters!
