| Posted: | | | | If each episode for a TV Series has the same cast and crew do we need add all episodes Dividers with repeating the Cast and Crew
The Profile in Question is The Adventures of Aquaman: The Complete Collection: DC Comics Classic Collection 085391-153184 I have added the cast and crew but since they are the same for each episode, I didn't add them per episode. and noted: Adding Cast and Crew from credits Cast and Crew are the same for each episode
do we need the add cast and crew for each episode even tho they are the same and should only be there once. |

| Posted: | | | | I add the cast for each episode if the crew changes over the episodes, so that we have the same dividers in both cast and crew. If both of them are the same in all episodes, I don't bother. | | | The colour of her eyes, were the colour of insanity | | | Last edited: by reybr |

| Posted: | | | | rebyr is correct. What would be the use of entering the same data over and over and over again with the only thing changing being the title of the divider? | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | I do the same as reybr. For "The Ultimate Fighter" boxsets, I put one divider listing "Episodes 1-12", since they had all the same cast & crew, then one with "Episode 13: The Finale", since that would have a different cast & crew . |

| Posted: | | | | I don't have any where they're 100% identical but mostly the same with only a few guest roles different from episode to episode. They're entered exactly as shown on screen. Even if they were 100% I would still enter them. I also believe that the rules support this. From here - Quote: Enter Cast and Crew for each episode using standard rules, and insert dividers to separate each episode's credit list from the others. Do not list Cast and Crew outside of the dividers even if they are credited in all episodes.
Enter the episode number and title in the divider that marks the beginning of that episode's credit list. The divider should be formatted as "1. Episode Title", or "Episode 1" if no title is available. That says (to me at the very least) that each episode needs to be listed individually & they can't be bulked together, at least not for the Online. |

| Posted: | | | | The Rules tells us to list cast and crew for each episode and not to list any outside dividers... and does not give any exception to this. Rules Quote: Quote: Complete Series/Season & Anthologies of Episodes:
Enter Cast and Crew for each episode using standard rules, and insert dividers to separate each episode's credit list from the others. Do not list Cast and Crew outside of the dividers even if they are credited in all episodes.
Enter the episode number and title in the divider that marks the beginning of that episode's credit list. The divider should be formatted as "1. Episode Title", or "Episode 1" if no title is available.
Take the episode title from the episode itself, or from elsewhere on the DVD or DVD packaging, exactly as shown. If all episode titles are entirely capitalized, use standard capitalization rules instead. If the episodes are listed with quotes around each title, exclude the quotes.
If the DVD or DVD packaging specifically numbers the episodes, use that number in the divider. Otherwise, episodes are to be numbered sequentially in the order that they appear on the DVD(s) in the set, with the number sequence carrying over from disc to disc. Do not number non-episodic features such as movies or alternate cuts unless they are given specific numbers on the DVD or DVD packaging. See the parts I put in bold. So with that line there... I always put a divider for each episode. (with number and title as per Rules) Whether they are all the same or not. And I vote no to anything else since it is indeed in the rules. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | For contribution purposes, I would go with the repeated list, even if it seems a somewhat dumb and tiresome thing to do. But there is a difference between data entry and data presentation. With my Credits Plus HTML Window (see this thread), you can get a compact display of cast and crew for episode credits. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Good shamless plug Matthias...Hahahahaha I kid. Darknite, you can always do the first entry of cast/crew the usual way, then copy cast/crew section and paste & append cast/crew section for the subsequent eps.
Eric | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

I always thought the purpose of the rule was so that regular cast members would not be listed above/outside episode dividers at the top. Such as having the regular cast members of Star Trek: The Next Generation listed only once at the top and then the episode dividers would only have the guest stars. I did the profile for the Pup Named Scooby Doo's first 2 seasons set. The cast is exactly the same for all 13 episodes and each episode has 51 cast members. So even though it's redundant all 663 credits are listed in that profile. But now that I look at it, I'm likely to edit down the cast members to just 51 cast members without dividers. It's just redundant data. |

| Posted: | | | | Cubby: As Pete outlined, if you do that, it is a local decision and NOT contributable. Pete quoted the Rules correctly, you know I won't tell you what to do locally. YOU may see it as redundant data, there are other users who will agree and other users who will NOT, more importantly the Rules do not agree that the data is redundant. | Posted: | | | | I agree with Skip... Local only that is fine. But for the online database we all need to follow the rules... whether we agree with them or not. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | ^Yes I know that.
I just edited down the cast for the Pup Named Scooby Doo season and it's so much easier to look at then 663 cast members whom are all the same. Now it's a short list of 51.
Plus the profile size went from 2.4 down to 2.2.
But yes, I agree.
Even though I think it's rather silly that is what the rules currently state to do even if every single episode contains the same cast and/or crew.
So if I ran into this type of thing I would contribute the profile with episode dividers and then I would edit it down to a less redundant list. |
