| Posted: | | | | I should lay off the smaller arty films, cause they keep throwing new terms at me. Just came across "Concieved by XX, Story by YY". A bit after is "written, produced and directed by XX" This feels like OMB to me and it's what I'm using as of now. Want to see if anyone disagrees or has a better view, I'll be back before submitting. |

I could create an argument for either OMB or more likely Created By, since I don't gather that this conception was published in any way. The question is should we...to be honest I don't know. Like I said, I don't see the rules being adjusted to allow a lone wolf credit.

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Skip on this one. I would say NO. I will also add that I myself have never seen this type of credit. |

| Posted: | | | | I've seen it on TV shows, though I couldn't tell you which ones. But it should be kept out. If the conceiver couldn't be bothered to write it down, we shouldn't be bothered to credit him/her. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | Cool, left him off and kept him local. I do feel it's a valid credit as far as the film goes, as the same guy has a real writing credit and also produced and directed. I'm thinking "concieved by" is more along the meaning of "idea by" or "concept by" for this film (Running Time for those interested).
First time I've seen "concieved", I have seen a few "created by". Is there an update with a "Created by" writing credit now, or is that beiong mentioned relating to older threads about it? |

Monty Python's Flying Circus: "was conceived, written and performed by:" This is the only place where I remember seeing "conceived by" credit. Fortunately the same persons also wrote the series, so the credits go where they belong. |

While "conceived" has a meaning for forming ideas without writing them down, in the context of a film credit, we can't tell if it was written or not. I can't find anything to detail how this credit is determined. I've most often seen it in theater productions. Contextually, it tells me that the "conceived by" credit is for the person who came up with the characters and situation (akin to "created by" for TV) and then gave it to someone else who developed the story. @bigdaddyhorse, in what country was this produced? EDIT: Nevermind. I think this is Poltergeist you are referring to? | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | Agree with Skip and James. To me, if anything, it sounds like a functional equivalent of "Created by", but since we don't do functional equivalents at this time... |
