| Posted: | | | | If you have photos attached to cast/crew you will find they are retained in your database, even if they have no profiles linked.
I don't recall if there is a switch somewhere to override this. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

It's there. In the database repair menu. There is a subtle peculiarity tho with the utility behavior, tho most probably won't notice nor have cause for concern: Though the entries for unused cast/crew are removed, the DAT & BLB files seem to never be recompressed, i.e. they only continuously become larger with every edit and photo regardless of purging or individual removals. (huge files for ACTORS.BLB and DIRECTPRODUCE.BLB if you've ever merged in the public headshots data.) I don't know if this has any eventual noticeable ill effect, at least I've not studied it too closely yet. Perhaps ever slower load & search times when editing, or more bother for those very tight on disk/memory or with their home directory on an office network. In any case, the only way I've found to condense these files, if you wish to do so, is to purge the unused entries of choice with the Repair Utility, then make a full backup and restore to a new database. This re-creates just the in-use data from scratch. (restoring this to an existing database won't resize these files - it must be a new database) Alternately, if you don't use headshots and aren't interested in keeping unused cast/crew, then you could skip the purge and just make the regular backup but untick "include cast/crew..." from the backup options menu - this skips everything in these categories that isn't already part of your existing profiles. Restore to a new database as mentioned above. Dunno how useful going through all that trouble really is, but if someone else finds it helpful... |

I don't recall if there is a switch somewhere to override this. I'm still looking for a discussion on why we don't have a special page here in Contribution discussion on the wrong head shots on wrong actors.. I have posted this before , but was shunned by others in saying this is not an Invelos problem., and you are on your own for fixing. I just came across a name the other day from a 1958 movie with a truck driver who's name was Gene Simmons and guess who's face adorned this actor?? We should be pointing these actors out so they can get fixed and corrected.. I must have changed close to 3 dozen head shots, and I'm sure there must still be another 3 dozen plus more to do.. but let's point the way and help others on this.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. It seems the best place to bring it would be in the Headshot thread in General Discussions. More people there would be prone to act on the errors. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | I agree... it is not a contribution problem... that much is for sure. It only effects those that download that headshot database. So it should be there where the people that it actually effects will see it. | | | Pete |
