| Posted: | | | | Hi,
I'm doing Credits for Finnish police series called "Kylmäverisesti sinun". On end credits there is a sentence " Minna Virtasen alkuperäisidean pohjalta luoneet Juha-Matti Haarti, Veli-Pekka Hänninen, Pasi Lampela ja Harri Virtanen" which translates " Based on Minna Virtanen's original idea, created by Juha-Matti Haarti, Veli-Pekka Hänninen, Pasi Lampela ja Harri Virtanen".
So in my opinion all others get "Created by" credit, but how about Minna Virtanen? Also "Created by"? |

Paul I don't think that's correct. The series is more or less based on real life cases, but the characters etc. are fictional. I understand that sentence so that they all has created that series together, but she is the "primus motor" to get that series started. So there by "Created by..". She is also a director on many episodes. |

Or do you think it means the division of labour was such that Minna Virtanen came up with the general concept of the series and the others worked on the basis of that concept? In that case I would indeed give all of them a "Created by" credit. I don't think an original idea would qualify for an original material credit, because ideas are immaterial. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

There is some background on the creative process on the official web page of the series (sorry Finnish only) at http://www.nelonen.fi/kylmaverisestisinun/. Nowhere does it say that Minna Virtanen wrote anything which could be taken as original material. She only presented her idea to Harri Virtanen who then started to gather the writing team. With a little shoehorning she can be credited as "Created by", nothing else fits her. Or you can leave her out until we can credit ideas. |
