I'm not sure if this is the proper forum for this post, but I recently ran into a "bug" and didn't see where else this might fall under.

I've been using DVD Profiler for a little while now.  I have been pretty good about making sure I have "backups" made.  Recently I found a problem when using a backup to import into a fresh pc installation.  I had several titles marked as "watched" but without a date.  When I originally entered my collection, I knew that I had watched them, but had no idea of the date.  This worked fine as they did not show up on the welcome page as having been already viewed and I didn't much care that the date was null. (00/00/0000)

I installed DVD Profiler on a new pc and used the backup to pull in my data.  The problem is that when I did this, all of the viewings with a null date were imported as having been watched on the date of install/import.  So now I have a bunch of films that say I just watched them a week ago, when in fact I haven't viewed them in I don't know how long ago.

Yes, I can go to the watched section and manually change all these dates back to null and I will, but I'd like to ask if on future versions of the software that the null remain as the date instead of assigning "today's date" when importing.

Hope this accurately describes the issue.  Thank you.

I use the date of Purchase if I am not sure as well. I didn't even know it would let you use no date what so ever.

I flagged all the ones I knew I'd watched and set them all to 1-1-2008. That way the field isn't empty but for me it is still very recognisable as "watched before I started using the program".

Using the purchase date would work in cases where I actually knew the purchase date for that DVD.  I should have clarified that I've owned most of the discs I was referring to for so long that I have no idea when I purchased them.  Hence, the purchase date is also blank (null).
