Hi,
I would like to sort my collection not only by one single ID, which autoincrements when I'am adding a new DVD. I would like to make that by category. I have a child and I don't want to put some horror-movie next to some child-movie, because the software put the ID 2000 next to ID 2001.

When I'am adding DVD, I want to define a Category (-Letter). E.G.: H for Horror, C for Children, D for Drama, C for Comedy, M for Music, ... - for all these categorys there is a ID, starting with 1.
Example: H1, C1, ... If I add a new Horror-Movie and I already have 200, then I get ID H201.

Is that already possible? I think, this could be a nice feature for everybody (with children ;-)

Thanks

You could use the collection number for this.

Simply invent numeric ranges for each category, e.g. 1-1000 for kids movies, 1001-2000 for romances, ..., 9001-10000 for Horror flicks.

When you add a new DVD you simply give them the first number within that range (e.g. 801) and then use the renumber function from Collection->Reassign Collection Numbers -> Do not renumber below 801 and above 900.

Another possibility would be that us use the location/slot information. But there's no automatic renumbering for them (that would defeat its original purpose)

Another possibility would be to create two sepearate database via File -> Open Database. The drawback of this on is that you only can have one of them online (and thus vote upon the titles).

Another possibility would be to create a virtual box called children movies / horror movies and put all your child movies under this "box set" profile.

Another possibility would be an excluding filter on the horror genre (which can be loaded at program start) or an excluding/including filter on a tag created by you.
