'Al Jolson' or 'The Jazz Singer' |

| | Posted: | | | | I have always, and will continue to call, this film 'The Jazz Singer'. But the dvd credit block on rear cover, and front titles on 2 copies I have seen, seem to indicate the film may have been called Al Jolson, or Al Jolson "The Jazz Singer" (copied below) Can anyone throw some historical light on this? Personally I will call it Jazz Singer locally so am not looking to change it, just found it interesting when i was reviewing the title.    | | |  | | | | Last edited: by hayley taylor |

| | Posted: | | | | You are misreading the credit block. It is easy to do because they did not include the word 'in'. It is broken down as follows:
"Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc. and The Vitaphone Corporation Present Al Jolsen" refers to the man, not the film.
"A Photo-Dramatic Production of Samson Raphaelson's play "The Jazz Singer"..." refers to the title of the film[/i].
