Hey folks

This is a contribution from goblinsdoitall for the UPC 4-013549-572873.
Postal - Limited Edition.

The is submitting it for the 2nd time now.
he wants to change the Case Type from CUSTOM to STEELBOOK.

I writed in my NO vote that this is NOT a STEELBOOK, it is a METALPACK, and those are all in the database as CUSTOM CASE.
STEELBOOK is a special packaging, METALPACK is a different thing.

It was clearly stated many times that METALPACKS are not STELBOOKS.

Someone please stop him before his contribution gets accepted

he already convinced one NO voter to vote YES, LOL.

I mean it is not the end of the world, but it is simply a wrong contribution.

greetings
Donnie

To me that looks like the same box that Terminator 2 originally got released in over here, in which case it's definitely not a steelbook.

I'd direct him to this thread. Beyond that, there's not much you can do other than hope it gets declined.

Metalpaks come in different sizes and shapes but it's not the same thing as a Steelbook. And I already requested to add Metalpak to the available cases.

Not trying to stir up anything, but that sure looks like a steelbook when I looked at it.

Is that 103 runtime correct? My US version is 102, unrated and minus the PAL speed-up. I'm starting to feel ripped off as I don't have deleted scenes either, are those worth watching (and how many, runtime)? I love this movie and might have to track one of these down, anyone in Germany or Switzerland want to do some trading? Last time I tried, Germany wouldn't ship anything with a high rating to the US.

Since I'm not trying to drive anyone nuts, here's the explanation:
The change of the CaseType followed the Poll results of this thread.
Since I'm quite aware that polls cannot change rules. I counterchecked in the contribution rules and it's linked thread, whether there were any restrictions that the casetype "Steelbook" should only be used for cases of the trademark holder. I couldn't find any restrictions.

Donnies reason for his "NO" was a "Rule violation" I asked him in a PM which rule I might have violated and asked him to quote the passage. There was no answer until now. Probably somneone else can show me where I went wrong.

The reason for contributing twice is quite obvious: when the first two "NO"-votes came in I withdrew the contribution and rechecked it's correctness, since in my eyes I couldn't find any errors I recontributed and named the reasons for this in the contribution notes.

If Donnie would have been able to show me the part of the rules I might have violated, I would have withdrawn the contribution and kept the change in my local db. But he simply couldn't, or didn't want to.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I think the intention was that "Steelbook" should cover all generic metal cases, I just think it's unfortunate that Ken decided to choose a brand name rather than a more encompassing description.
I think separating cases by brand name is too specific for the lay-person to contribute so although at the moment neither of you are wrong, I'm tending to agree with Michael that the "Steelbook" case type includes other metal cases.

I can see what goblin & north are saying & if that is the case (no pun intended!!) then Steelbook should be renamed to something else so we don't have keep on having this problem (not a complaint merely a statement ).

Heyas ,

overall I am also with goblin, if it was for me all metalcases would be entered as Steelbooks, but Ken decided against it, I sadly do not find the thread about this anymore.

But I would be more than happy, if the rule would change

cheers

Rules aside, my personal preference is to see these as distinct. A Steelbook actually holds the discs, and looks quick distinguished, whereas (for me), a metalpack is a cheapish way of bulking up an ordinary release. Metalpacks aren't packaging, rather they're glorified slipcases.

Does anyone else probably know which rule / or decision of Ken Donnie is referring to?
All I found were the threads I linked above.

Are you sure you are talking about the same thing?
A MetalPak is almost identical toi a Steelbook (means it's practically a KeepCase made of metal), from what you wrote I'd assume you're talking about a Metal SlipCover (which is on the market too)

Like it or not, Steelbook is the name of a specific type of packaging.  If the case in question isn't a 'steelbook', it should not be listed as a steelbook case.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I didn't even know about metal slip covers, but yes, I'm talking about the same thing. A metalpack isn't actually a package for holding the discs, it's merely a wrapper if you will for the actual case, hence my view that it's a glorified slip case.

The one I'm thinking of sounds like the the same as W0m6at. This site has it. Go to Products, then Metal 2 - Sorry, it's a Flash based site so I can't link directly to the item.

It does seem like they do cases that look like Steelbooks as well though, the STARMETALPAK being an example.

I don't have this set so I won't be voting,, but I always felt that custom was plastics and cloth etc.
( think LOTR Sp ED box set),, Superman Box set in a metal box is steel,, any metals is steel,, and the drop down box for case type only lists Steel  no Metal  in that drop down box..
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

I think the problem here is that Steelbook is a registered product. It would be like if Ken had used Amaray case instead of Keep case. Not all DVD/Blu-ray cases are made by Amaray.

I don't mind grouping all metal cases together but really think the name should be changed.
