| Posted: | | | | I was busy updating my profile for Amadeus: Director's Cut and I noticed that the cast that appear in the operas staged within the film are credited but weren't in my profile so I decided to add them. The thing is one person provided the voice and another person actually appeared, so I was wondering about the best way to credit them. The basic appearance in the end credits is something like this:
The Marriage of Figaro...........Sung by....................Acted by Figaro....................................Samuel Ramey..........Miro Grisa Countess................................Felicity Lott...............Helena Cihelnikova (the dots are there purely to give the appearance of columns)
At the minute, under a Marriage of Figaro divider I have: Role: Figaro, Name: Samuel Ramey (voice) Role: Figaro, Name: Miro Grisa Role: Countess, Name: Felicity Lott (voice) Role: Countess, Name: Helena Cihelnikova
But I was wondering, should I be putting Role: Figaro (Sung by) and Role: Figaro (Acted by) to specify what each person did?
Edit: or do you think I should list each column under "Sung by" and "Acted by" dividers? | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

That's how I would do it. As it currently stands the only type of credit we can put in () is puppeteer & as they aren't divided out in the credits, I don't think we can do that for the online. |

Actually, since posting I went and changed to the divider method! But I have to admit, I think dividers are justified as each name is technically under a heading in the end credits, and it does look a lot better. And I agree, I wasn't happy with the idea of adding the "sung by" or "acted by" bit in brackets after the role name either. PS. What was the concencus with dancers? I've just come across a list of names under the heading of "The Dancers", it's under the opera credits separated by a list of the musical soloists involved. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | It's probably a lot easier if you can see what I've done rather than me try and describe it. Here's the XML for the finished cast list: Edit: as per antolod's suggestion, I've removed the XML and instead here should be a direct link to the profile in my online collection. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | It was easier to see what you did by looking at your online collection, than reading the xml. I don't have the film, but what you have done looks okay. The only thing I might do differently, would be to lose the empty divider Opera Soloists and ammend each Opera divider with that info; ex: The Marriage of Figaro: Opera Soloists or Opera Soloists: The Marriage of Figaro. Not exactly as credited, but I think it might look cleaner. | | | Kevin |

| Posted: | | | | Actually I posted the XML intending people to load it into a blank profile to see it, but you're right - looking at my collection is probably easier, I never thought of that! Not sure about the Opera Soloists suggestion as you're right - it's not exactly "as credited", however there's a good chance the cast list would still make sense if I simply removed it so I'll certainly consider it. |

Dividers should not be used here. I agree with: Quote:
Role: Figaro, Name: Samuel Ramey (voice) Role: Figaro, Name: Miro Grisa Role: Countess, Name: Felicity Lott (voice) Role: Countess, Name: Helena Cihelnikova

| Posted: | | | | I agree with RHo. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again.
