| Posted: | | | | I'm going through an anime profile at the moment, and it lists character design. This is a common enough credit in animated films. Who else thinks that the "Creature Design" should be expanded (my preference) OR that character design should be added in its own right so that this can be tracked? Character design heavily influences the look of an animated film.
I am not going to shoe-horn it in. I am gauging support for the addition in a future version of the program. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

I'd say functional equivalent roles should be allowed by the rules. IMO creature design and character design is close enough to be functional equivalent. |

| Posted: | | | | The only problem I see is that could and likely would result in a long list of 'Character Designers' in some profiles, especially in animated films.
Would/should we only include the "primary" Character Designer and/or those for specific characters? Or include all of them? |

This was my thinking, but as it stands I think it would be opening a huge can of worms to try it. A change of field name would be appropriate here I think. Perhaps my experience with animated movies is more limited than I thought, but I've not ever seen a long list of character designers. In fact, I don't recall ever having seen more than one (although I suspect there are examples with two where people have collaborated on a project). Can you provide examples, or is this pure speculation? | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

I don't have the time right now to go and look at the end credits, But that's what I remember seeing. |

However, something like The Dark Crystal (allegedly) has multiple creature design crew (and Creature Design is an existing role). | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Pete and Unicus and Martin. Shoehorning Character Design into Creature Design is not what we should be doing. We already slam a lot of people into Costume Designer who arguably should not be there. The only way to properly track this would be Custom or get Ken to add another tickbox for Character Design. | | | Kevin |
