Hey gang,

There's a recent contribution for The Godfather Part III that adds "The Coppola Restoration" to the edition. I'm torn on this because while the cover for the entire collection does say it, the disc itself does not (the other two Godfather movies do have it). I also know the DVD version which come in 3 separate cases within a slip case does not state the edition for Godfather Part III either (this is because the third movie did not get the restoration treatment).

So, does "The Coppola Restoration" edition belong to Part III?

If it's a child profile to a box set I would consider it part of a collection in which case it inherits the edition from the parent profile. But not if it is sold separately.

If it isn't "The Coppola Restoration", I wouldn't enter it as such. But hey: I've been forced to keep logic like that local before (there this non-widescreen DVD where the front cover says "widescreen", and of course, someone comes along and adds "Widescreen" to the edition field - you all do what you want, but I'll lock my data and be happy with it, thank you very much).

Wasn't,  or isn't,  the Coppola Restoration where Francis took Godfather II and first Godfather and stitched them together chronologically for the initial TV broadcast.. so the films run with no flashbacks and the entire tale of the Godfather runs in order from 1912 thru to 1958..

If so, then Godfather III has no bearing on this restoration at all..

No, that was called the Godfather Abomination... I mean Saga!
The Coppola Restoration is what the new boxset is called because the first two Godfather films were extensively restored for the release.
As for the OP's question, if it's packaged like the UK release then I would say no because Part III comes in it's own case, and if the edition isn't on that case, then I wouldn't agree to adding it.

I have to disagree.  The child profile should stand on it's own...especially if the other two films do have the edition listed on the individual cases.

Here's the problem: The DVD has three cases, one for each movie, this Blu-ray version all three discs are in one case. Personally I don't care so I guess this was just out of curiosity. Now, I don't think it should be in the edition field (I'll just lock it locally), however I don't think the contributor is wrong either (I've voted neutral on this).
