What's up with that? Just stumbled upon a 12a Rating at the BBFC website. How does it differ from 12, and do we need to implement it into Profiler?

The 12a Rating is only used for movies shown in cinemas, whereas the 12 Rating is used for dvds and the like.
Apart from that, the 12a ratings means, that children under 12 can still see the movie if they are accompanied by an adult.
