| Posted: | | | | I am currently profiling "Satisfaction", an Australian TV series. One of the actors is Australian Bruce Alexander. The Bruce Alexander in the database is a British Actor who starred in "Tomorrow Never Dies". The problem is, I can't find any links, besides the IMDB links for both of these actors, and IMDB does not have a BY listed for either of them. Personally, I don't want the same credit for both the TV Series, and Tomorrow Never Dies, since these are different actors. Would it be acceptible in this case to add BY 9999 to the Australian actor? | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I wouldn't put false information into the online database. I would say do it locally only. | | | Pete |

Would it be acceptible in this case to add BY 9999 to the Australian actor? You could (purely for local) do that or you could (again purely local) give the Aussie actor a middle initial so as to distinguish the pair. But if you are going to submit to the online I would so not. Steve |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, using fake birth years is the best option to do this - locally only, of course. I have about fifteen or twenty of these in my database (for starters: I have five decidedly different people all named "David Lee", only one of which I could find a birth year for). Using a fake birth year doesn't harm your opportunity to contribute the profile as you would normally, because it won't automatically be included in your contribution: the evaluation screen will specifically show you a checkbox asking you whether to include it. As long as you don't check that box, you can proceed as usual, and you'll find there's no downside.
It's preferable over adding a non-existing middle initial, because that would render it impossible to contribute the profile. Using a fake birth year, as explained above, does not have that drawback. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

Thanks, this is a very good tip. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm
