Hello

just wanted to get an opinion on something. Somebody is trying for the x time now to contribute a promotional flyer as an other feature for the German edition of Pulp Fiction (8-717418-101695). He always gets enough no votes for the contribution to stop but I still wanted to check. He is arguing that: "The reasons I count it as an 'Other Feature': It does not violate the rules for Features. It's not part of every DVD release. Trailers, another form of promotional 'flyer', are built into the Feature section of the program itself (even though trailers are frequently not more than annoying advertising for other movies).

And the Werbeblatt ("Tarantino-Kult auf DVD") especially belonged to the first edition of this release - the distributor even equipped the DigiPac with a bag inside, for the single purpose to store the Werbeblatt."
Werbeblatt would be the German translation for (promotional) flyer.

So what's your opinion?

Still no, as voted countless times. Promo flyers are a bug, not a feature.

Wow... some things you think is obvious. At this rate if we need to add stuff like this as against the rules... our rule will end up being bigger then The Encyclopedia Britannica!

Didn't I just know it, first the chapter flyer is counted as a bonus feature now adverts creep in. No, sorry, advertising material is not a feature, it's junk.

A promotional flyer is NOT a valid Feature or Other Feature. I just downloaded the title and saw who is making the contribution and...well,     .

So what's your opinion?

Not on your life a promotional flyer is a feature!!!

Count the number of exclamation marks.

Now I'm waiting til someone refers to a single sheet of paper as a small book, because the sheet has been folded in half before.

But. Why is promotion in form of trailers a 'build-in Feature', however promotion in form of booklets 'printed scam'? Then incoherent trailers should be regarded as junk, too, shouldn't they?

It has already been done.  The people contributing them call it a '4 page booklet'.

No because they are actual features of the DVD.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

"Advertising material is not a feature, it's junk." Listen to this! Are you publicly saying that you boycott the rules, and thus our community, by denying incoherent Trailers being Features?

First attempt. It's still a matter to be decided.

I would say 44:1 is a clear decision

Trailers are at least something, a lot of people are interested in. For some it is almost an K.O. criteria, if the trailer of the movie is not included on the disc (am I correct, Pete ).
And often the trailer includes scenes not in the movie, or are special teasers (like for Austin Powers 2).
But you are the first who wants to know, if there is an annoying advertisement flyer in the box. I usually throw them out.

Regarding trailers: If it was for me, I would change the rules, that "Trailers" are only to be checked, if it's a trailer related to the movie on the disc.

I personally disagree here...  I have a slightly different wish when it comes to trailers. I wish there was a program Change... rename Trailers to Theatrical Trailer (or something like that) and Add Miscellaneous Trailers (or something like that). As both kinds of trailers is important to me.

Then have the rules say something like...

Theatrical Trailer: Checked if Trailer or TV Spot for Feature movie of the Disc is included.

Miscellaneous Trailers: Checked if a Trailer or TV Spot for any other release is on the disc.

That is a real quick rough draft of what I am saying... but you get the idea.
