| Posted: | | | | Hey folks,
this is the first time I am seeing this and i contribute alot of stuff. I just wanted to update the Brazil: Criterion Collection Slip Case. The overview needed a change, because Brazil is written in italics. I uploaded my contribution, then when i wanted to click the Overview box, I saw a sign right beside the old (and wrong) overview, which says LOCKED. I am not able to tick the Overview box, hence I cannot contribute my correct overview.
Any help is greatly apprciated.

| Posted: | | | | Hello Donnie,
in fact Lock is a feature that allow to protect data from modification. In the tab database, you have a button "View/edit locks". If you own a dvd and you are sure the info is correct you can decide to lock the field. If they are 6 (I think it's 6 but I'm not sure) owners of the dvd lock the same field for the same DVD the field is locked and nobody can update it. I suppose the overview of your DVD has been locked by users before we have bold/italic features in DVD Profiler. To be unlocked, the persons who have locked it must unlock so you will be able to contribute the overview with italic.
I hope I have been clear... | | | Regards Cyrille |

| Posted: | | | | Six is the number of people who can lock a profile. Here's the link to the lock page. Your best bet is to present your contribution notes (and UPC) right here. Perhaps one of those who locked it can unlock and allow you to submit. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | Thx alot for all your help, will contact the contributors and alo go to the link that you mentioned here I think this "Lock" feature is the most stupid thing we have here. With every program update, new stuff is added, and profiles that are locked need an update. It can be kind of impossible to find users who are able to unlock it. What do you guys think about removing this feature ? greetings Donnie | | | www.tvmaze.com | | | Last edited: by DarklyNoon |

| Posted: | | | | I never liked the on-site locking feature for this very reason. I personally have always been against it. Too much can change... not only if a new version comes out that changes how we do something (like adding italic or bold like we have here now)... or even if it is just a change in the rules. That could cause us to need to update something that is locked. It wouldn't be half as bad if there was a more reliable way to get titles unlocked. But the way it is now just don't work. | | | Pete |

greetings Donnie The Lock Feature should stay. It was I believe implemented to stop ping ponging of data for different released variations, and besides once the data is in and correct beyond any further doubt that section should be locked anyway. So therefore yes by all means get in touch with the users who locked the profile, but once your submission for an update to the way the Overview is presented (Bold/Italics) it should be re-Locked, least somebody else comes along and tries to change it all back again. | Posted: | | | | The actual number of locks appears to be quite small, so the system is hardly used. It's a matter of good or bad luck to encounter one, so we may as well dispense with it altogether, and rely on the voting system instead. | | | Hans |
