| Posted: | | | | To all invelos subscribers, I apologize for the 6 or so botched up contribution in which I attempted to clone new BD profiles from earlier DVDs. Lesson learned. So please, stop sending me nasty private messages. |

| Posted: | | | | Welcome to the Profiler version of "reply all". Not exactly the same mistake but certainly the same level of public embarrassment. You'll have it figured out soon enough. |

Simply wait for the retailers to catch uyp to the press announcements, this can happen quickly and sometimes it can take quite some time...but they will catch up and then you have a valid UPC#

| Posted: | | | | I voted no on a few of his submissions. I did not, however, send him a PM. The problem...well, one of the problems...was that he forgot to change the UPC. The end result being that his Blu-ray contributions were changing the the DVD profiles. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

Ive got good results by just sending a polite PM Welcome to the forums |

Lesson learned. So please, stop sending me nasty private messages. There are those who feel that anyone who submits something obviously wrong are only doing it to destroy the database. Some even see themselves as some type of protectors of all the data entered. Fortunately they are relatively small in numbers. Unfortunately some of them are the most vocal people on the forum. But don't worry, there are a lot more of us who realize that most people are only trying to add to the db as best as they can. Most mistakes are just that, mistakes. Don't let the naysayers get to you. Anyone who is willing to contribute should be welcomed with open arms and a lot of patience. I too was guilty of voting no on what I think was one of your submissions. Don't take 'no' votes personal (although sometimes with the comments it is hard ). Most of the time the 'no' vote will teach you. Watch and read the forums. You will quickly see who you can safely PM if you have any questions and get real answers while not being berated or simply told to "read the rules" WELCOME!!!! |

So please, stop sending me nasty private messages. It doesn't matter how badly you screw up on a submission, it doesn't justify nasty private messages. Sometimes a reply to a PM is nasty. If I think a contribution is good with a couple of exceptions that I COULD vote no on, I'll send a PM to the contributor with where I think he/she could improve the profile -- say if when updating an overview to included bold and italics he missed a word or two, or if, as happened recently, he corrected two of eight IMDB-generated roles in a cast list and I PMed him to ask why he didn't include ALL the corrections. Most of the time I get a pleasant reply -- either to thank me for catching something he overlooked or to explain why he thought he was right and I was wrong (which in one case was true, and I ended up voting FOR his contribution). But occasionally I get an unfriendly response basically asking me why I thought he should correct all the errors in the existing profile when he didn't make them, and why didn't I bother the original contributor? I didn't mean to offend this contributor, but obviously he wasn't in a mood to take suggestions. I don't think I was nasty in the first post. So nastiness doesn't always start with the first PM sent. But I agree with northbloke, messing up a submission doesn't call for a nasty PM -- especially if you hope to encourage the submitter to do a better job the next time. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. DVD Profiler user since June 15, 2001 |

| Posted: | | | | I would be loathe to judge a PM is nasty, more frustraion. For example, I agree about errors on a title, but then when you find another, and then another and then yet another one...well you get the drift.
One of the biggest problems I see here is that we have some users who are too ready and willing to pass judgement on others, based on WHAT, words typed on a screen with nothing more to go on than that. We can't see each others face or body language, we certainly don't know each other for the most part, yet we think we know enough to pass judgement. Let he who is without sin cast the first srtone. I don';t think i need to name names, I think we are all guilty at some time or other, including some of us whose sole reason for existence is try and bait others.
