I submitted this title called Screw along time ago I had to use the disc id since it wouldn't except the upc code on back. Now after so many updated versions of profiler it still wont except it what I don't understand is I have another dvd from the same company HOT HOUSE called Head Hunters that does except the upc and there is only a slight difference in the numbers, Screw wont except upc 0828872000148, Head Hunters upc that does except 0828872000498. Can anyone explain this? same amount of numbers and only two numbers different.

There's an error in the check digit.

0828872000148 should be 0828872000146

(8+8+7+0+0+4)*3 +(0+2+8+2+0+1) = 94
Check digit is how many to the next whole 10 number.

so the upc number in the back is wrong? I should submit it with the last number being 6 not 8?

You can't really do that either on the off chance it collides with something else.  We've seen this before with some companies and there's not much we can do if they can't get their own UPCs right.

You could contribute it using the DISK ID. That should be unique.

You could ask Ken if he can force it through with the back covers UPC.

The only collision would be with a product from the same company. We've seen that before with re-used codes

The first 12 digits should be unique, and the 13th is just the check.

I agree that PM'ing Ken would be a good thing.
