Hello.... yet again. Don't worry, the questions will hopefully run out soon.

I'm currently updating the Canadian Infinifilm edition of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

This DVD comes with a slip cover. The UPC for the DVD on the slip cover, is simply a sticker, that on mine, actually covers most of an image on the back cover. If the sticker wasn't there, the slip cover wouldn't have a UPC on it. The slip cover also omits the fact that the DVD release is a New Line Infinifilm release. Infinifilm is only printed on the actual cover for the DVD (which, front and back, is completely different) and since the current edition listed for the DVD is Infinifilm Special Edition, when it should just be Infinifilm, I would need to scan the cover, not the slipcase, to prove the change.

In this kind of case, should the slip cover still be scanned, or should the dvd cover be scanned?

If I should still scan the slip cover, should I remove the UPC sticker so that full images on the back of the slip cover are properly revealed (even though it would leave the scan UPCless)?

And finally, if I'm scanning the slip cover, would uploading an image of the actual cover with Infinifilm printed on it to a photo hosting site, and linking to it in the notes section, be enough proof for the edition field?

Thanks for the patience!

It's a valid UPC. The ugly sticker contains the same UPC that's actually on the DVD cover. I don't know if it was put there by the store, or Alliance Atlantis (which produced and distributed the DVD). And the UPC only matches to this particular DVD in the system, so it's all good on that front.

So basically still contribute the slip cover as the cover, and then I guess just scan in a copy of the DVD  cover, upload it and link to it in the notes to prove the UPC and the Editions field.

I figured that was probably the best way to go, but just wanted some clarification as I keep running into things that don't seem to be the norm. Stupid Canadian editions.

Well then... and after all that, it turns out I can't remove the friggin' sticker without ruining the slipcover...  So impressed at the moment...    I guess I have to submit it with the ugly sticker, but I'll still upload an image of the actual cover to show valid UPC and Edition.

While I've got anyone here (if anyone pops their head back into this thread), the DVD I was updating in the first place had a locality of Canada (Quebec) which the DVD is not. It's simply Canada locality. When I change the locality, the system wants me to submit an entirely new DVD instead of just updating the existing one (didn't change the UPC, just the locality). Is there anyway around this to update the existing (fairly crappy incomplete and incorrect) DVD, or do I now just have to leave the already existing (fairly crappy incomplete and incorrect) DVD in the system for some other poor sucker to download instead of the proper one?

slowly warm the sticker with a hairdryer (lowest setting) and very carefull try again, or just leave it.

Oh yeah! Totally should have thought of that. I'll have to do it tomorrow as there's some sleeping beauties in the house right now, but that's no problem. Thanks for the suggestion!

If the existing profile is wrong, and not a valid profile, after your new corrected profile is approved, you can change the title of the bad profile to "SCREENERS PLEASE DELETE" and submit with the notes about it being an incorrect profile. This usually will result in the bad profile being removed.

Aaahhhh! Is that how it's done! Thanks so much for the info. I did a bit more digging and found three websites that appear to sell a version with this UPC for Quebec. So I guess the version that I thought I was updating instead of submitting an entirely new dvd, is actually supposed to be there. Like I said, the entry bites, but it's supposed to be there.

Thanks again for the help!
