Ok question:
- There was a major sale at my favorite DVD store and bought the classic: Mission Impossible TV Series 1-5. I was adding the information on my database and found that someone did the work of inputting all the correct data to each seasons (great work by the way). However, as I was adding my stuff, I noticed that the box were all the same, the collections I got all have very nice slip case which has 2 discs inside, the packaging has the disc number on the cover with a nice picture and the back of the packaging the content of each discs (episode, description and rating). I scanned each of those, associated the imprint of the disc and submitted them to the database (I have seen many many new submission with the Boxcase scanned and each disc scanned with the associated slipcase (for a collection, I think this looks way better and does give a more accurate representation of what is on the shelf).
Now that my summary is out of the way:
Q: I got 'no' vote for those new scan submission with the following premise: "your scan are for a new edition of the same product, not for the actual product". What makes an edition better than the next? Personally, I have no problem to have them scanned for my personal use but I find ironic that all these seasons actually on the market are the one with the individual case instead of that piece of card board we found in some of the series.. | | | | E |

| | Posted: | | | | It's not that the old editions are better than the current editions, its simply that for Invelos the earlier editions take precedence over the current ones. The way I see it, it's to prevent a ping-ponging of image submissions. For instance, I just picked up the film Funny Girl. When I entered it in, the cover that came up is completely different from the one I have. Mine must be a rerelease of the film. When I get around to getting a new cover for it, I'll have to keep that local. After all, since there is obviously no new UPC code for each rerelease of a film onto DVD, if I submitted the cover I have, other folks must have the original release with its cover. So they wouldn't want the wrong cover any more than I do. So if Invelos took each cover as it came down, then they wouldn't have the right cover for their collection and would resubmit their cover ... and you see how it would go from there.  | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

| | Posted: | | | | yeah... unfortunately Invelos don't have the option to store more then 1 set of images per profile so we can choose the cover we actually have. So it is basically first release is what matters... as it says in the rules for coverart.. Quote:

Although there are more details on the slip case I have, I will not 'insist' in submitting them here... just because of the swap between submission.. that would be another pain, although the power to accept the changes in the individual database belong to the owner!! I have them scanned for my own then !! (yeah.. by the way, the discs ID are the same for what ever versions... !!!) Thanks all! | | | | E |

| | Posted: | | | | ..and I feel the pain as much as you all do, as well,, My problem disk is the regular Bull Durham comapared to the 'Special Edition' version., same thing here but the white jacketed Special Ed is the same as the what looks like the second released plain simple looking jacket., Same UPC same ID same features--,, but differant overview..  and as you all know- by Locking off this disc with the locks you'll never have to worry about it being overridden by a newer contribtion but it pays to look at the new refresh if it comes down the pipe.. It's too bad, or maybe its not.., but we should have our own little club within the club here where we can share scans with others, who don't have a scanner or their scanner is down,, and they can 'own' that particular cover scan they so desperatley seek... come to think of it..
