| | Posted: | | | | While HD support is considerably improved this version, there are still a number of place where it treats them as DVDs when it shouldn't.
* For one, when entering a new title, it enters it as a DVD. The first screen wants you to enter region info. If it is a Blu-ray, you must just pick something, then go fix it later. We eed to be able to slect format right off the bat.
* While the concept could be implemented through other methods, Blu-ray doesn't have an angle function as far as I can tell. The button seems to be there for DVD compatibility.
Would like video specs like we have for audio. We could enter whether the material is SD NTSC, SD PAL, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and the codec. It would only ask about anamorphic if SD.
* Need feature options for BD Live and Picture-in-picture for Blu-ray.
* The program seems to think that the HD audio formats are always 7.1. This is not always the case. Man on Fire, Ice Age and I, Robot all have 5.1 DTS Master Audio, for instance. We need to go back to how things were in earlier versions of the program where codec and channels were selected separately and just disallow certain combinations if they aren't possible.
* Also, this isn't exactly a high-def problem, but we need 4.1 support. | | | | Last edited: by Ace_of_Sevens |

Some Blu-ray titles do have multi-angles. Never Back Down (025195043243) is one of them where for the fight sequences can be viewed from different angles. Pretty much agree with the rest of your initial list though. | | | | Last edited: by Ardos |

The distinction between BD and DVD is insignificant if you are trying to pretend that BD is not a DVD, BD has morestorage capability largely due to an upgrade in DVD technology using a narrower beam laser allowing for more data storage and the higher resolution again as a result of a technological upgrade. they have far more in common than to try an claim they are a totally new medium. Er, no it's not. Saying a BluRay is just still a DVD is like saying a DVD is just still a CD!
Just because they're commonly used to store the same material (movies) doesn't make them the same.
It would make a lot more sense to replace "DVD" with the more generic "disc". Er, yet it is. DVD is an optical medium for Digital Video storage. Blu-Ray is and optical medium for Digital Video storage. One stores Hi-Definition Video whilst the other stores Standard Definition Video. Apples and oranges. What's the big deal? | | Posted: | | | | Officially DVD stands for nothing. Studios wanted Digital Video Disc while the computer folk wanted Digital Versatile Disc. So in the end, they agreed it would be simply "DVD" - not an acronym. Another tidbit: Very early versions of DVD Profiler included a menu option under Tools - "DVD Stands For?", to which the program would respond "...DVD Stands for D___ V___ D___", filled with random words starting with D, V, and D. So, you might get "The alien abductors don't want you to know that DVD stands for Dynamic Visual Domination", or something that makes even less sense.  *Updated with an example from version 0.9.0, which still runs fine under current OSes.  | | | | Invelos Software, Inc.
