Hi,

After 'Casablanca' and 'The Day the Earth stood still' are released, I ask myself how to contribute the Video formate?

In my opinion, the HDTV-Standard and all Blu-Ray Discs have the formate Widescreen 16:9 (and an Full Screen with 1,78:1).

So both Films are presented in 1,33:1. I would contribute those Films in Widescreen 1,33:1 because its Side Matted. I don't think it is a classic Full-Screen of 4:3 (1,33:1)

What do you think? [Sorry about a not-perfect english]

They are Full Screen 1.33:1.  Were these films entered as Widescreen that would imply to me the image i'm watching is cropped top/bottom and actually fills the screen.

See also this thread.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

The reason for designating full screen is to distinguish it from a title that might have been pan and scanned.  This give folks some indictation that they should be seeing a full frame instead of a zoom in or a cut.

Yeah, I would simply mark them as Full Frame 1.33:1, not ideal but as HD discs are natively 1.78, I think this gives people the information they need. Unfortunately pillar-boxed discs were extremely rare when Profiler was written.
Ticking both Full Frame and Widescreen suggests two versions of the film to me.

I have the disc for The Day the Earth Stood Still and I agree.

And FYI, it's the best release of this movie I've seen.
