Me again...

I'm still working my way through my collection adding all the (now, very annoying) Canadian editions from my collection into the system.

Currently working on Mona Lisa Smile. I'm going to clone an edition already in the system, and then make all the proper changes and updates like I've been doing so far. First time I've run into this situation though.

Within the credits for all four dvd's already in the system for the film, there's numerous actors that are listed as uncredited. Numerous. Tons actually.

There's no way I can verify all of them, nor do I particularly want to, and since this is a new dvd entered into the system, do I simply remove them? Or if I verify the rest of the cast from the credits and state that the uncredited actors were cloned, will the submission go through?

Any advice on how to proceed?

Thanks!
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

to be on the safe side, I'd recommend removing the uncredited cast before submitting unless the notes for the profile you're cloning has specific documentation for them. In which case you can copy that into your notes and leave them in.

If these are "new profiles" you will be creating for titles/UPCs not currently in the Invelos database, then you will either have to document all the uncredited entrys or else omit them.

Never thought of that. I'll check 'em and see if there's anything there.

Thanks again!

Just checked, none of the releases have any notes about uncredited cast members (in one, it was stated that it looked like the cast was originally copied from IMDB, which is probably where they came from in the first place). So I'll just verify the actual cast and remove the uncredited's. Thanks again!

I almost envy the fact that you have to enter all these profiles.  Once that uncredited stuff gets in, it takes an act of congress to remove it.  Best just to start off fresh since 95% of these entries don't have any supporting documentation.

I hate seeing those uncredited names and roles as well., to me they are just.,( i.e.)  " 'My Uncle Jim always told me he was a Munchkin in Wizard of Oz', and so I submitted his name, and role for prosperity  to IMDB.." - type of business..

The irony here is that IMDB has been cleaning up their mess over the last couple of years.  Oh, its still bad, but getting better.  Meanwhile, we lock this stuff in like its holy writ.  Pretty soon if anybody wants to know what IMDB's uncredited lists looked like circa 2001, they can simply reference our database.

I hate uncredited cast and usually remove them from my local database - especially if they're people I've never heard of.
And the whole 'today's nobody could be tomorrow's big star' is just a bunch of hogwash IMO.

When and IF these people get famous then - and only then - will I add them to my local db!

Agreed with both of you!
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
