I have seen for quite a few versions of DVD Profiler the ability to submit on line reviews for others to see for them selves the quality of the disc or movie question. I also can see that the work submitted must be original and the review can also be contributed anonymously . Which brings me to today's post.

I love reading on Digital Bits (Bill Hunt's ) reviews for a particular DVD release to see how it faired with him and his team for the over all quality and submission of a studios release to the open market.
His comments more than like will sway me in either buying now or later a particular title. ( Vertigo here not being recommended ) . So in hindsight I'd like to see some of his reviews being used here, with the caption 'courtesy of digital bits', so his site will get the recognition it so well deserves.
with the submission being left as anonymous, and the fact that 99.9% of the titles ( am I wrong?), not being filled in, you would really have to hunt ( pardon the pun) for any of his reviews left here at Invelos..

BUT,, I am only saying all of this for one reason.. ( not wanting any red zingers),, What is the reviews exactly?  i.e. Just a quick:  ' good buy' , 'I like this one', 'don't buy this it stinks',, etc etc.. I would really like to see proper on line reviews for said titles being in one place here for us to find at a fingers notice and not a lot of googling to find the same type of reviews..

I have to agree that online reviews would be a useful resource. Much like Amazon etc. allow reviews for their products, it would be useful if we could submit, read and rate reviews on their usefulness here on DVD Profiler, and depending on ratings (much like the stars obtained from positive posts) we could create a 'Top Reviewer' structure, which may even promote the idea of reviews to users who may not know about the review section, let alone contribute.

It would be good if reviews were visible via the online (perhaps through the database tab - much like locks and links are) - what do you all think? I've never really considered this before but I think Terry has uncovered a great new direction which profiler could take with online reviews, I'm sure Ken could whip something up!

I know what you meant. IMO if you want to use a third-party review, you should just provide a link to their site so that they get ad revenue for their work.

Anyway, how many people use/check the reviews in Profiler? I suppose you could show it in a report layout, but most of them would be blank. Or do what skip does and add them to your notes section.
