| Posted: | | | | I would like the ability to have the same profile in the database more than once.
Reasoning.
1. I currently have many duplicates in my collection (bad memory when buying).
2. I keep track of my collection and my childrens collections in four separate databases. - If there was a field that I could stipulate the owner i.e. Mine, daughter, son, Peter and I could have duplicate profiles I would only need one database which would allow me to use DVD Profiler Mobile (can only handle one database).

The reason that we cannot do this is for reasons related to businesses which would have multiple copies of titles, there are people who can explain this much better than I. But this a personal program. So in this area, each user is on his own, in handling,..me I find they make excellent Christmas/Birthday Gifts.

| Posted: | | | | There are a number of good reasons why we should be allowed duplicates, both in the program and in the online. And you've just listed two more! Yes, I think allowing duplicates is a good idea, the number allowed could still be restricted which would preclude any unauthorised business use. |

Regards Strop You could use just one "master" database and have tags to identify who the owner is. Then you could copy it to muliple databases for your childrens collections and purge the ones that don't apply by filtering on the tags and using flag to mass delete the ones that don't belong to them. Then you could still use DVD Profiler Mobile on the "master" database which would have all of the DVDs. |

| Posted: | | | | I really wish we could have multiple copies of the same DVD when they are either in different box sets. I find I wind up with duplicates mostly due to box sets. For example: Toshiro Mifune: The Ultimate Collection and Zatoichi - The Blind Swordsman DVD Collector's Edition Both contain: Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo For duplicates that are due to one being in a box and and having the single I usually give the single to someone I know but for duplicates in box sets I tend to keep them as to not break up the set and have empty spaces in the boxes. In those cases it would be nice to keep both in DVDP (Yes I know about the trick to change local to make a second copy with same UPC but would like to avoid it) |

Download the profile per normal 2. Select it in DVD Profiler and in the menu go DVD -> Change UPC... 3. Replace the existing UPC with something non-standard. I'd recommend 100000000000 for the first time you do this, and then 200000000000, etc. for subsequent additions. 4. Download the profile again. The net result is that you will now have the profile twice in your Db. Once with the proper UPC and once with your renamed UPC from step 3. The downside to this is that any updates done to the profile will only be reflected in the version of the profile with the proper UPC. NOTE: Do not try to contribute the profile with the replaced UPC code. It most likely wouldn't get accepted, but there's no need to risk contaminating the online Db with bogus profiles. | Posted: | | | | Or try Mediadogg's Bulk Edit plugin, which allows you to convert profiles to proper manual profiles, which cannot be contributed - even accidentally. Though as Astrakan says, this is only a workaround - not a solution. |

| Posted: | | | | you can't filter on UPC/EAN in this version and don't know if this is an upcoming feature in the 3.5 edition. You could use a tag and mark the manual profiles:
from DVD Profiler menu: ToolsEdit TagsAdd Tags: Manual all profiles have now a Tag: Manual in the filter window you can select the bottom Tab Tagsthere you can set the newly created Tag: Manualthen use the Filter Tag at the top Tabs of the filter window | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Guess not - maybe only when you add a manual profile in edit mode. Should I put that automatic tagging into the clone code? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | Why not, did not think of it, but it is practical. Once the manual profiles are in DVD Box profiles, you no longer can get them sorted out in the UPC/EAN column. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Sorry to belabor this, but should a clone to Disc ID also be tagged "Manual Profile" or "DiscID Profile"? | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | you already give the answer yourself, and I agree Quote: - Tag "Manual Profile" added to cloned manual profile to assist in filtering. - Tag "DiscID Profile" added to profile created from Disc ID to assist in filtering. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted.
