While I realise that this request raises the hackles of the forum oldsters I can't see a downside.

DVDP is absolutely the BEST program available for cataloguing DVDs. It's a joy to use and it looks like a porsche - compared to other programs resembling a Penny Farthing (that's a really old bicycle for those not in the know).

I'm an avid collector of DVD, Books, Music, Board Games (yes, officially a geek!!!  ) and I, from my perspective, if Invelos did a program to catalogue those items too it would be totally orgasmic!!

So....Ken; take note - I'll happily lay my money on the table if you develop these too!!

I think the ability to add Laserdiscs and Video CDs next to DVD, HD-DVD and blu-Ray would be great.

And I still would like to see the possibility to add my quite impressive whisky collection (250 different, mostly from Islay)

EDIT: But seriously: Not in one program please. If Ken chooses to develop spin-offs, I'd gladly check if there's something in it for me. But I'm quite sure that we'll never see any of them.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Well, since this program is turning more and more into Movie Profiler, I don't think adding all other video media is a huge stretch. Most of the data would be the same anyway.

Ouch!
You mean leaving out all this DVD-specific stuff like extras, audiotracks, etc.?

Well, we don't even have decent sound options for HD media, but we do have an extensive sound category for the movie credits!

As a separate program, Yes.

But not all in one program.

I wouldn't mind something called Music Profiler or Video Profiler that would cover all of those music & video formats. Just not all meshed into one program.

I would think it would  increase business for the company for those interested in keeping inventory of those formats.

My feelings exactly.

All (!!??) Ken would have to do is write the basic program and then let the users request specific fields and information they would like to see.
Create another user built database and let us to the db work.

I personally think a lot of people would pay for a Book or Music Profiler (I know I would) and surely more money in Ken's pocket wouldn't be sniffed at?

But, as a friend recently said, Ken is only one man - he may not have the time (or more importantly) the inclination to do this sort of thing.

However....this site does have the 'Invelos Software' logo at the top...maybe, if there was never any intention of expanding it would have been 'Invelos DVD Profiler' instead. Just a thought...

Let me start by saying I think these are all great ideas.  I too would love different profilers.  However, I see huge difficulties. As already mentioned Ken is one man, for him to split himself into 5, 10, 20 profilers would cause great degradation into what someone already said is the greatest collecting program there is.  Next, creating profilers aint like dusting crops boy, the engine is easy, the features and db are problems at best, nightmares at worst.  Let us also remember, we are what makes this program so great.  What kind of riffraff are we going to introduce with Beavis & Butthead Profiler 1.0?  I honestly cannot say.  I do know that those of us who contribute, currently, are meticulous, I doubt people who collect sock monkeys or ear wax would be as through.  Everyone cuts jokes about multiple Profilers, when Ken has his own company the size of MS and becomes the Bill Gates of Collection software, not only do I hope he hires me, but I am sure he'll make any Profiler requested as there will be the manpower and the ability to accept every request that comes along no matter how intelligent or idiotic.  My point is enjoy the greatest collection software there is, but don't complain if it doesn't spin off into other softwares.

I agree with Sith.  I'd use more profilers if they were available.  But at this point, I'd like to see Ken continue to improve the existing program.  It's a great program, but still a long way from being perfect.  I'd hate to see that development time spent elsewhere.

Let's stick with improving this program. Some of those other collection program ideas already exist out there in excellent products (I have a great ones for my comic books and my CDs).

If Ken makes one for 8 tracks he better make, Beer, Woman, and Scotch profilers first.
