With the advent of multiple sites that offer direct downloads of TV series and movies I am starting to have a little collection of digital files (mainly seasons of TV shows) that lie in my HardDisk unintegrated with the rest of my media (nicely managed by DVDProfiler)

Is there any chance a future version of DVDProfiler would add support for the growing reality of no-disc based movies and TV Shows?

OMNSHO, OT, and other acronyms - it'll only be the death of the physical format when they provide 50 GB movie downloads. 

So you want DigitalProfiler? or would it be HDDProfiler? The physical format is not going to die anytime soon. Probably not in your lifetime, definitely not in mine.

To expand a bit. Here;s why I don't see the physical format dying. Based on all of my experience in computers and just here watching users. People don't backup their data enough, they also don't think beyond the computer they a currently using, so we see things like, how do I get back up and running now that I have a new computer. These are ongoing issues that have been around for years and I don't foresee them being resolved anytime soon.

While I intentionally use a catchy phrase for the subject  I do agree with posters that physical formats are not in inminent danger, however Ron got my point, how do we going about managing our file-based movie/tv collection?

I do love DVDProfiler so yes skipnet50  I think I want a HDDProfiler or DigitalProfiler (in fact I want it added to the current software as a One Stop Central Point for audiovisual entertainment management)

Setting aside the debate over whether or not physical media will die....

I also have a growing inventory of digital media (purchased on Amazon Instant, freebies from VuDu, etc.) that have no disc-based twins in my collection.  IT WOULD BE NICE to be able to shake my movie picker and have those additional titles to choose from.  Or just have it showing in my list of titles.

Cause I'm never buying "The Grudge" on disc, that's for sure.  But a guest might want to see it.


ETA:  I just realized the age of this thread.  Any resolution?  I don't dig very deep in the menus I'm afraid.

Ha ha!  I suppose I should have mentioned I'm using a hybrid method where I'm doing most of my database management on my PC, but doing most of my "fun" stuff like browsing with an iPad.  For PC I understand F10 is pick a movie.

What I want to do is have it so that I (or a guest) pick a title they want to watch, see all the available format options, and choose the one they'd prefer to use.

I think I've figured out how to do what I want... use "Add Disc" and edit the listing to say "Digital HD", then personalize by putting the location (Vudu.com, for example) and then marking the "Never Contribute" attribute so I don't mess anyone's data up.

I assume I can do a lookup per location if I want to see all my Vudu titles?
