Am I right in thinking profiler didn't allow you to add a disc id to a profile if you had anydvd running?

I'm trialling the latest version due to having got a new vista machine and was able to add an incorrect one just now.

Luckily I've fixed and resubmitted, but I wonder how many aren't aware of the issue?

IIRC, it wasn't that it did not let you add it, it was more like it would get the Disc ID wrong.

That's why I could have sworn it was disabled, because it was causing problems with the wrong disc id.

Hmm I was right, it was in the 2.5 915 beta notes.

Ken is this functionality something not implemented in 3 or is it broken by the latest version of AnyDVD 6.1.6.9?

It works normally for me. If I start up DVD Profiler when AnyDVD is running I get the warning with click yes to continue without disc ID. I upgraded AnyDVD to the latest version and it made no difference.

It mus be due to the AnyDVD version. I'm running DVDProfiler version 3.0.3. build 1136 and AnyDVD 6.1.3.3. (an older version) and a few minutes ago I had to exit AnyDVD to be able to verify a disc ID, so I know for sure that this combination has the 'add by disc id' disabled.

Richard

If you start AnyDVD after DVD Profiler, you can add AnyDVD modified disc-id, because the check is only done during startup.

Worked out what it is.

If you start Profiler first then start Anydvd it doesn't pick it up, so just lets you add the incorrect disc id. I guess the (probably fair assumption) is that most people will run Anydvd all the time, whereas I don't have it run at startup as I don't watch DVDs on my PC all the time.

It seems to be more of a prompt anyway as Profiler gives the option of disabling add disc feature, but doesn't force the issue if you decline.

Guess this means I need to remember to add the disc first when doing a profile then enable Anydvd to do the cast and crew.

Edit
In the middle of my post when Ross got in

Yep, Lithurge and RossRoy are right. That's why I've added a feature request to have this check added. In my oppinion it is a bug (when you only check it at startup, it is useless, since it can be started afterwards). However, I guess clever points must be chosen as when to check it, since performance wise you don't want to check it unnecessary to slow things down.
