Can we please stop recontributing this profile to have the "Steelbook" removed. It was voted on and approved to have this title listed as "Title: Die Hard Edition: Steelbook 2 Disc Set (DVD)" I keep seeing this contribution come up for votes. I went to Amazon.com and Suncoast.com and they both list it as "Diehard Special Steelbook edition". Since I am the one that submitted the Steelbook edition I don't feel comfortable voting on this. Since I have seen this come up for vote at least twice I thought it was time to bring it to the forums for a vote.  Thank you all.

I would certainly think it's worth leaving alone at least until we see if we get "Steelbook" as a new case type or not.

I think it's appropriate to include case type in the Edition Field in this instance. How else to distinguish this release from the regular 2-Disc Special Edition?

The rules state: "The Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs, and for indicating special versions and collections (for example The Criterion Collection, Widescreen, Full-Screen Edition). It's usually safe to use one of the built-in selections if appropriate. If you are using a non-standard description, take it from the DVD box, and ensure it will help distinguish between different releases of the same title."

"Steelbook Edition" is non-standard and nowhere to be found on the DVD box. So, technically the updates removing the edition descriptor are totally correct!

Though I would find it a pity myself if this descriptor was removed (IMHO it makes sense to have it), a "No" vote for this update is a direct violation of the rules.

Skip told me the other release has a different UPC, so it is indeed easy to distinguish between both versions.

And, as Tigi said, it is a violation of rules to include something in the "edition"-field which is NOT statet on the front- or backcover.

Like it or not...

And I'm pretty sure we'll soon be given "Steelbook" as an option for "case type" so this problem will disapper.

We can't just "vote" to change the rules... Until Ken makes a change in the rules, they have to be followed.

Nothing personal, but both points should be clear.

Ah and you miss the other point, Micha. If Steelbook is in the Edition field, Ken can do an auto change to the case, if it is not there we have to do the hard way. We did the same thing with HD-DVD and BR

Ah... really hard work to select something from a pulldown menu and contribute. Let me think... 15-30 seconds?

I still think it's a good idea to keep the edition for now. You state that the 2 versions have different UPCs, but what about people who want to add it to "wishlist" or "ordered"? All they have to go on is the title.
And there are also plenty of other "editions" out there that haven't come from the cover, contrary to the rules, however - they do the job the field is there to do. Therefore I don't see what benefit you'd get from removing them.
The same with this profile - what benefit does the database get from removing it? I think in certain circumstances, that question is more important than "does it follow the rules?"

That "different UPC" info came from Skip. And people could easily use the build-in "Preview" function. It's not THAT difficult or complicated.

And if you'd read Tigi's post properly - you'd have noticed that although he quotes the relevant rule, he also states that "it would be a pity" to follow it - therefore is not a hypocrite at all!
