| Posted: | | | | I was doing some updates on the Voltron dvds last night and came across inconsistencies with the studios. One would think that the studios would be the same for all 4 volumes but they are not (I do understand that this could be possible) I am at work now, but off the top of my head i think the first 2 volumes where the same, the 3rd volume had the 2nd and 3rd studios reversed, and the 4th volume had different studios. I did not check the actual credits, but on the packaging I only saw 2 of the 3 studios listed.
As per the rule for studios I know it should be: "Studios List the Studios in the following priority.
* Theatrical Release Studio(s) * Production Company(s) * DVD Distribution studio(s) if there is room available.
Do not abbreviate Studio names. e.g, use Universal Pictures not just Universal; The Criterion Collection rather than Criterion or Criterion Collection; Walt Disney Pictures not just Disney or Disney DVD. Exception: If the studio name is too long to fit, use standard abbreviation rules.
There is further information about correct names for studios, and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum."
But a) there was no theatrical release as this is a tv episodes dvd so is the 'tv release' studio the first listed and b) is this information relatively clear in the dvd credits as I think at least one of the 4 volumes is incorrect.
I have not made any changes to this pending getting some feedback here first. (or someone else with the discs is welcome to look at it and make the corrections if they understand this studio stuff better)

| Posted: | | | | That would be a false assumption, agrare. Studios are subject to change, not typically within a given season or set, but from Sesaon to Season it is not at all uncommon for production companies to change.

| Posted: | | | | There's a submission for Van Helsing (2 disc, R2) 5-050582-290813 up at the moment, the proposed studio list is:
Universal Pictures Universal Studios Universal Pictures (UK)
The list at the very beginning of this thread states that Universal Studios is incorrect. Is this still the case, or have things moved on? | | | Chris | | | Last edited: by Mole |

[...] Quote: Universal Studios Studios Universal Family & Home Ent. Universal International (Use only if credited, typically older films)-Be careful, the copyright usually belongs to Universal Pictures. Universal Pictures Universal Television Distribution Universal Home Entertainment Universal Home Video-Legacy from videotape, usage discontinued circa 1999 Universal Pictures (UK) Universal Studios (UK)-Region 2 Universal Studios Home Entertainment Incorrect Universal Universal City Studios Universal Studios Home Video Universal Studios (Holding Company and Theme Park)
How should I contribute "Universal City Studios, Inc." in a TV show? As "Universal Television"? It's in the Copyright notice in end credits. "Universal City Studios, Inc." followed by "in association with..." "...productions..." etc. etc. | | | -- Enry | | | Last edited: by White Pongo, Jr. |

"Universal City Studios, Inc." followed by "in association with..." "...productions..." etc. etc. In my recent contributions of 'seaQuest: Season 1' child profiles, that is what I used as that is the name of their Television arm...at least it was at the time. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I am researching this further to verify just how deep it will go. But it appears as though, effective with the re-release of 101 Dalmatians, that Disney has decided to change Buena Vista HE to Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. How this will affect other productions under the Disney flag remains to be seen. I will post more info as I find the answer.

| Posted: | | | | Wouldn't it at least be worth Ken inserting a "convert 'Ent.' to 'Entertainment'" sort of thing? Or do we consider "Ent." a legit abbreviation in some cases?
Those seem to be the most glaringly unnecessary "extra" studios scrolling through that monstrous list... |

What's the problem, it is probably pretty rare these days, but Ent. is used when the field length is not long enough to allow Entertainment, which used to be a very common occurrence.

Skip Well, I noticed these as I was scrolling through the studio filters--and found instances of "XYZ Ent." and then next listed was "XYZ Entertainment," so clearly, these, at least, were examples that weren't "no room." Or what about some way to remove the unused ones (occasionally this was the case) from being in the studio list? |

| Posted: | | | | While going through by db, checking for incorrect Studios and Distributors, that a date range could be applied as as a check as when these names were used, either the release or production date. Any comments?
How about this one? Columbia TriStar Filmes do Brasil Columbia TriStar International
I'm no expert on this, but these sound incorrect Columbia Pictures Corp. Columbia Pictures Corporation Columbia Pictures Television Columbia Tristar (I got about 40) or Columbia TriStar? | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.
