My Thoughts:
I been enjoying this show so much that I just couldn't be bothered writing a review for each disc. So I waited until I watched the complete season. And I am still completely hooked on this series. I have now watched 2 of the 4 seasons that I got for Christmas... and just can't wait to start season 3. Why am I so hooked on this series?... I really don't know... just know that I am enjoying every moment of this fun series. Favorite episode of the season? So many good episodes it really isn't easy to say... but I guess I would have to go with Shawn (and Gus) of the Dead... which happens to be the season finale. And I think they ended the season with a nice little cliffhanger. Nothing detrimental to the storyline... but something to keep your interest for the next season.

My Thoughts:
Last night I finished season 3 (and started Season 4)... I am still enjoying the series quite a bit... though I have found I am not laughing quite as much as I did over the first couple of seasons. There has been a gradual decline in the laugh out loud moments. But find it still well worth watching. There is a lot of good episodes this season... so had a hard time picking out a favorite episode of the season. But when it came down to it I had to pick An Evening wtih Mr. Yang which was the season finale. Not so much for any comedy in the episode... as there was very little. But because he went up against a serial killer. It especially got good once the serial killer got a hold of his mother.

My Thoughts:
I just finished season 4... the last season that was given to me for Christmas to watch. Though I do have the next season already ordered to look forward to. Needless to say... I am still hooked on the series. The set is filled with good episodes... but even so... it was once again rather easy for me to pick a favorite episode. As they brought back the character of Mr. Yang from the previous season's finale for this season's finale. Letting us know that Mr. Yang had a partner that is still out there.... a Mr. Yin! And looking ahead to season five I see they are brought back for that season finale as well. Something more to look forward to as these episodes are arguably the best episodes of the entire series.

My Thoughts:
Last night I finished the fifth season of this series. I am still enjoying it quite a bit. Lots of good laughs and some interesting cases as well. This season also has a nice selection of extras as usual. And this season they dropped the montages. Which I have no problem with at all... as that is one extra I never seen the sense in. I mean all it is... is clips from different episodes in the season within a certain theme. I just watched the entire season... why do I now want to watch clips from the episodes I just watched?

Now that I am all caught up with the DVDs I need to see about watching the current season episodes that has aired... this way I can start watching this show as it airs.

My Thoughts:
I just finished watching the first season in this complete series (6 seasons) set. I remember watching this show when it originally aired on HBO back in 1984. I remember enjoying the series then... and I enjoyed the first season now. But not nearly as much. Why? Not so much because the show didn't hold up over the years. More because most the episodes are the cut versions for network TV. There is a few episodes that are the original HBO cuts... can tell by the running time, language and nudity in those episodes. Another thing that shows the cut versions is the God-Awful laugh track that they added for the network airings. One that sounds so fake... and placed in the oddest places that it is distracting from the show. I did an internet search to see just how bad the rest of the episodes will be and I was disappointed to read that we get this type of treatment through half the set. The first 3 seasons are like this... but apparently seasons 4-6 are the original uncut episodes. Hopefully this is right... as it is very disappointing. I hate when they use cut versions!

My Thoughts:
I just finished this set of last season's episodes. As usual... I enjoyed every minute of this set. A lot of really good stories... and I especially liked how the season ended. Makes it so I can't wait to catch up on this season's episodes. I was thrilled to find out that Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia) joined the cast this season. Unfortunately though, she only lasted a small amount of episodes. I would say about half the episodes of the season. If not less. Which is a shame because I was really enjoying her character. I am hoping at some point they will revisit the character to let us know where she went from here.

Determined to battle the criminals who now control his hometown, Vince takes the law into his own hands and becomes The Cape-his son's favorite comic book superhero. Featuring an incredible supporting cast, including James Frain (The Tudors), Keith David (Death at a Funeral), Summer Glau (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Dorian Missick (The Manchurian Candidate), Martin Klebba (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Vinnie Jones (Snatch), it's the action-packed series that has critics raving, "'The Cape' is cloaked in awesome." My Thoughts:
I just couldn't wait to check out this series... so started it yesterday. I just finished it... and I must say that I enjoyed it quite a bit! I enjoyed the story.... was hooked on all the action...and liked all the characters. Another series that was canceled before it's time. I would have liked to seen it... at the very least... gotten 1 full season. But in this case it was canceled after 9 episodes. The DVD set has all 10 episodes that were produced. When I saw that episode 10 was titled Endgame I had hopes that they managed to give the series decent closure. But no such luck. One of the main reasons I wanted to check out this series is because Summer Glau is part of the main cast. And as usual... she didn't disappoint. Sure there is a bunch of bad CGI with all The Cape can do... but I also enjoyed that in a fun, suspend all disbelief type of way. The DVD release has no show related extras what so ever... but at least it does have a "Play All" option for those of us that likes that option. If you don't mind having short-lived series.... with no real conclusion & can forgive the CGI used... this is one series I would recommend.

My Thoughts:
Before getting this set I have seen a good handful of episode and always thought it was a pretty good series. But now that I have gotten to see it from the very beginning I am enjoying it much more. Finding it to be a very funny series. My favorite character in the series has to be Donna... as I have always had a thing for redheads... and always liked a strong and independent woman. The character actually reminds me quite a bit of my wife when we were teens back in the '80s. In this case I don't think I could pick out a favorite episode as I really enjoyed them all so much. Definitely a series worth checking out if you haven't done so yet. I am looking forward to watching season 2 now.

My Thoughts:
I just finished season 2... I went through this season in no time. And am enjoying the series even more. Tommy Chong (Cheech & Chong) was in several episodes of this season. He made a pretty good addition to the cast. Once again I can't decide which episode would be my favorite of the season as they were all good... but if pushed I would probably go with the 2 part episode where Donna and Eric loose their virginity. I would love to go straight to season 3... but don't have it yet. Hopefully I will be able to get it before too long.

My Thoughts:
I have had this set for just over a year now... and I finally got around to finishing it. This set contains the first twelve episodes of season one. It is a series I grew up watching. It is one of the first hour long comedies I remember seeing... something that still don't happen that often. It seems that usually comedies run in the half hour format. One of my favorite things about this series has always been seeing all the well-known guest stars... I especially liked the ones I knew from other TV series. The guest stars that I am familiar with in this set include...

Meredith Baxter Birney
Bonnie Franklin
Suzanne Somers
Jimmie Walker
Sherman Hemsley
Jaclyn Smith
Scott Baio
Kristy McNichol
Robert Reed
Loretta Swit
Milton Berle Bill Bixby
Audra Lindley
Jim Nabors
Patty Duke
Robert Hegyes

Steve Allen
Sandy Duncan
Gary Burghoff
Jane Curtin
Phil Silvers Eva Gabor
Al Molinaro
Leslie Nielsen
Rob Urich
Florence Henderson
Donna Mills
Dick Sargent
Pat Morita
Tom Poston
Anson Williams

I enjoyed watching this set... it has been so many years since I seen this series. It is a fun show with a lot of great characters. I also have the season 1 vol. 2 set as well to look forward to in the near future.

My Thoughts:
After watching and enjoying the first season so much I just couldn't wait to watch the second season. Though I did go into this season with much lower expectations... as this is the season that they were producing when John Ritter passed away. And quite frankly, I couldn't really imagine the series without him. But I must say... I still enjoyed the series a lot. It really wasn't the same without him. I would even go as far as not as good... but I still enjoyed it. John Ritter was in the first 3 episodes of this season. When he passed they also killed off his character. That episode, as well as the next couple, was some of the saddest moments I remember seeing in a sitcom before. Though that could be because I knew that is when John Ritter actually passed away as well. But I am sure that a lot of the sadness in these episodes was real for the entire cast and fans alike. After his death they added James Garner as  Kate's father—the kid's grandfather—to the cast. Shortly after that they added David Spade as C.J., Kate's nephew—the kid's cousin—to the cast. At first I didn't care for the character of C.J. but it didn't take it long for him to grow on me.

As I said... while I liked the first season better... this season is still good. Looking online at the episode guides I see there is still one more season of the series. So now I really want to see it. But unfortunately it seems it was never released on DVD! I so hate when they release an entire series except the last season! But maybe I will still get lucky and it will be released sooner or later.

My Thoughts:
I just finished this complete series set. It was a new series that aired last season... made by the same people that make Grey's Anatomy. The series is more then a medical drama... it is more like a medical drama mixed with an action/adventure type series. Unfortunately it only lasted a half of season before getting canceled. Since it was canceled so quickly there isn't a satisfying ending to the series. To many questions left unanswered. While I enjoyed every minute of this series, I am not surprised that it was canceled the way it was. It isn't the best medical drama I ever seen... and I can see where some people wouldn't like it considering the main storyline and location. But personally that is one of the things I liked about it. My favorite character on this series is Dr. Lily Brenner played by Caroline Dhavernas... who coincidentally starred in another short-lived series I really liked... Wonderfalls. My Favorite episode is a little hard for me to pick since I enjoyed them all so much... but I guess I would have to go with I'm Here... an episode where the doctors had to amputate a girls leg underwater when she gets trapped in some rocks while scuba diving. Surprisingly for a short-lived series... there is a nice amount of extras. My favorite extra is normally the Outtakes/Bloopers... but not in this case as there really wasn't much to them at all this time. So in this set I would have to say the Making Of featurette has to be my favorite. It really was interesting to see all the locations and how they shot some of the stuff they did.

I would say if you can deal with the fact that there is no satisfactory ending to the series... this is one I would recommend checking out. Especially if you normally enjoy medical dramas. As this is a medical drama with a twist.

What with having season 6 ordered I wanted to re-watch season 5 to remind myself where I left off on the series. I enjoyed this season very much... but then I always did like this series an awful lot. There is a lot of very good episodes in this season. Not to mention some well known guest stars such as Kurtwood Smith, Jeffery Tambor & Angelica Huston. It is really hard for me to pick a favorite episode of the season... but if pushed to I would probably pick Then... and Again.

My Thoughts:
Since I finally recently got the 5th (final) season of Sliders I wanted to remind myself of the series... as I haven't watched any of the discs in years. This set has the first two seasons. And they are a couple of the best seasons the show had to offer. I have always enjoyed this series... or at least to my memory as I haven't seen the final season since it originally aired. I will see soon enough about those episodes. I am the first to admit this show went a bit downhill with each season that passed. But I still remember always thinking it is a fun show all the same. I always remember thinking this show's downfall was the overuse of the Kromaggs. I always thought that they were fine for a few episodes... but in later seasons it seemed like that is what most of the episodes were about. I was surprised to see they showed up first in 1 episode of season 2... I forgot they showed up so soon I thought it wouldn't be until season 3... or maybe even 4. For one episode it made for an excellent show... so maybe if they stuck to 1 or 2 episodes involving them per season it wouldn't had gone downhill the way it did. I don't know... but I think it would have been better. But over all I really enjoyed revisiting this set... and I look forward to continuing on to the 3rd season.

My Thoughts:
I just completed this season set. Medium has been a long time favorite of mine... especially since I been a long time fan of Patricia Arquette. For the most part I feel this has been a very good season. Lots of excellent stories. None that were complete bombs in my opinion. And this season made me realize just how much of a talent that Sofia Vassilieva (plays Ariel, Allison's oldest daughter). She really impressed me a lot. Looks like a young actress we should keep our eyes out for. This turned out to be a great set with a nice selection of extras as well. Definitely recommend it.

For those US citizens wo want different slant on their crime drama:

One thing  like I like is that most of the episodes are about 90 minutes long, thus giving a better development of the characters and story than than the 42 minute episodes of US TV episodes.

Distributor: Wellspring Media in English
France
Bought in 2003
Maigret is one of my  favorite detective as I read the books long before DVDs and I am looking forward to
Mhz Networks Home Entertainment releasing many more the series.

Maigret
One of the bestselling authors of all time, Georges Simenon is most famous for his more than 100 novels and short stories featuring Chief Inspector Maigret of the Paris police. Concerned more with "why" than "who," Maigret's profound perception of the realities of human behavior and extraordinary psychological insight make him one of fiction's most interesting and unique sleuths.

Michael Gambon brings the timeless, tantalizing exploits of Georges Simenon's legendary detective to life in 12 episodes of mystery and intrigue. From Montmartre to the remote French countryside, Maigret encounters the dark side of the human psyche. Yet he manages to maintain both compassion and a sense of humor as he explores the complex motives that lie behind every crime.

Episodes:
101: The Patience of Maigret
102: Maigret and the Burglar's Wife

Against a backdrop of 1950s Paris and the surrounding French countryside, these original feature-length films pay homage to one of the most brilliant detective minds of the twentieth century.

Donna Leon's Commissario Guido Brunetti
Murder, Venice, relationships...it's a delicious concoction in the hands of crime novelist Donna Leon. Venice provides the backdrop for the lush film versions of the bestselling novels, which feature the singular Commissario Guido Brunetti, canal boat rides instead of car chases, fine cuisine and crime investigations in one of Europe's most beautiful locations. Joachim Król stars as Brunetti, a police inspector with a keen mind, razor-sharp wit, and a touch of melancholy. He strives to bring criminals to justice, but experience has taught him that countless things work against that - human frailty, corruption, and police incompetence being chief among them. He takes refuge from the job in the company of his loving wife Paola, a university literature professor, and two teenage children, Raffi and Chiara.

Detective Montalbano
Murder, betrayal, office politics, temptation... it's all in a day's work for Detective Salvo Montalbano. With intuition and a cadre of police officers, Montalbano solves crimes in the fictional small city of Vigata. This work brings him across the paths of unforgettable characters who could only come from Sicily. He also wages a personal war with his own demons, which fight against his professional ideals and personal commitment to beautiful long-distance girlfriend, Livia. Yet there’s always time to indulge a long-standing flirtation with his ultimate temptress, Italian cuisine. The series is filmed in the ancient, sun-washed Sicilian city of Ragusa, and is based on the international best-selling mystery novels by Andrea Camilleri.

Homicide Squad
Chief Inspector Antonio Lazzaro returns to Italy to take charge of the Homicide Squad - immediately striking sparks with ex-lover and colleague Simona Colli. With their crack forensics team, they solve a series of seemingly unrelated murders...or are they? Cryptic clues from Dante's Divine Comedy are discovered at each crime scene, luring the investigators into a mystery - and a trap...
Soon, Lazzaro is racing against time to catch a crazed serial killer - whose ultimate target is Lazzaro himself! As the bodies pile up, can the Homicide Squad find the Dante Killer in time?

Homicide Squad Episodes 1-6

Inspector Coliandro
He's one hot cop and Italy's answer to Dirty Harry - or so he thinks. To everyone else, he is an ignorant, crude, and politically incorrect buffoon who is despised by colleagues and certainly not feared by the criminals he's chasing. Only his partner, Trombetti, sees past the bravado to the honest cop inside who's determined to fight crime and save the day, either thanks to his own dumb luck or (Trombetti's) intuition. When he's not fighting crime, he has his own battles to fight - mainly his colleague's constant mispronunciation of his name - a play on the Italian word coglione (balls). Directed by the Mannetti Brothers, Itally's premier video directors, and starring Giampaolo Morelli, Coliandro is shot on the streets of Bologna.

Inspector Coliandro. Episodes 1-8

The Octopus
First broadcast in Italy in 1984, The Octopus (La Piovra) is an international blockbuster, running 18 years and producing nine follow-up series. The title of this classic Mafia thriller says it all, evoking the image of a secret criminal culture extending its tentacles into every layer of society. Ultimately shot on three continents, The Octopus brings scope and sophistication to the story of an old battle and shows the cost men and women pay when they stand up to the injustice of organized crime.

The Swenish version is better but Kenneth Branagh is much improved in the second series.

Wallander
Kenneth Branagh plays Swedish detective Kurt Wallander in three new crime dramas based on the best-selling books by Henning Mankell - an international publishing phenomenon with over 25 million copies sold worldwide.

Sidetracked, Firewall and One Step Behind follow Inspector Kurt Wallander - a disillusioned everyman - as he struggles against a rising tide of violence in the seemingly sleepy backwaters in and around Ystad in beautiful Southern Sweden.

Baffling crimes and seemingly motiveless murders lead to surprising and shocking discoveries in these Swedish noir thrillers.
