Mediadogg and I worked together to get something to work for me. We found that there is no way on my computer to get a side by side for it to work. My screen resolution just doesn't go high enough.

So Alt + Tab with two maximized windows (DVDP Edit window and your Media Player) would work very nicely!

Sorry Pete, don't take offence. I'm just pulling your leg

FYI, you can use a different player. Either VLC Player or Windows Media Player will scale small enough to fit. My laptop was also not wide enough to use PowerDVD, so I tested with VLC. Same script works with a simple change.

VLC Player? Will have to look into that one.  I personally hate Windows Media Player for DVDs... it gives me a fit every time I try to watch a disc on it.

VLC player from http://www.videolan.org/

It's a great tool, I watch everything with it, from DVDs over MKVs down to Youtube FLV videos.

You will love it. When I played with your idea, only downside was that when side-by-side on a small or low-res screen, you can't read the credits (or least I couldn't). I still had to double click the VLC player to full screen and double click back, in order to view info and then enter into the Edit dialogue.

In this case, size matters.

While it don't seem to be a replacement for PowerDVD (yet)... it seems to be a very cool player. Seems like there is a lot that PowerDVD can do that this one can't But that is at first glance. I could very well just be missing it.

I think you forgot the best part.  It has mouse support!!!

Seriously, it's a great player.  I even have it on my phone (though I think the app has since been pulled).

One of my favorite features (technically not a feature) is the ability to fast forward and sometimes even skip past things like the MPAA warnings and animated screens that you are normally forced to sit through

PS Pete, I'm very tech savvy and HATE FAX machines.  I can barely use one and only then if I can't find someone else to do it for me.  I also HATE phones.  Here at work, I'll go 10 minutes out of my way to avoid calling the person.  Or I'll call someone and ask for their email so I don't have to call them back.  Co-workers just laugh at me and ask why I don't pick up the phone.

So while I can laugh at your anti-keyboard stance, I only laugh because I have my own "keyboards" in life.

I agree with you 100%.
People are like pavlov's dog when it comes to the telephone.
They have their purpose, but people abuse them.
A phone rings and through hell and high water they just have bust their fanny to answer it.
That is why the combination of cell phones and driving is so dangerous.

I've been in electronics and computers for over 60 years and fell the same way you do about phones.
My computers have all have FAX capability and I have never sent or received a FAX.

In my working days, I also hate meetings, when they called a meeting I went the other way and when I saw fellow worker heading to the  meeting, I said don't drink the cool aid.

Oh, I don't twit or face.., what ever, either.
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

You sound like the old guys from Sesame Street.

But I'm also not a techno apologist. I need to see the use for myself before accepting a new technology.

For example, I still don't have internet on the mobile phone. I'm at work for nine hours with open internet access and most evenings I'm at home - right now I'm lying on the bed, typing his post with my iPad.

Yeah, sometime I actaully wish I had internet access in that moment when I'm in the city. But these rare moments don't make considering paying €20 more per month just to have internet on the moile phone.

But I don't object tech either. Every tool has it's purpose, when I need to send a fax, I send a fax - it's not witchcraft.
