Is there some importance to this.
I know in Tim Buton's Corpse Bride, it was based on charactes by him, He also directed, and Produced.
I know Bram Stoker was not involved in the 1992 film, and Mary Shelley could not have been involved with the film Frankenstein (died in 1851)
Is there some standard that can be derived out of all the profiles we have?
This is where the solution needs to begin The best solution is to simply allow possessives if they appear on the Front cover and not to permit users to throw mud in the water trying to call something a possessive that is NOT. No conditional, no anything, just do it. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

You either use it or you don't. We have already created the mess and now we have a chance to say we screwed up and shouldn't have done that. NO CONDITIONALS. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! I never use possessives in my local database. I don't care who wrote/produced/directed etc. this film/DVD. I can find that information in the Crew section. I want the title field to actually reflect the title of the film/DVD. |

Actually, we can do whatever Ken decides we can do. If the possesive refers to an author, the one who wrote the book the film is based on, then I see no reason why it can't be used for an OMB credit...assuming Ken changes the rules to allow it. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I never said to use those in the TITLE field. I said they should be allowed in the OMB field! | | | Hal |

We can and we can create a mess too, which we have done a number of times. And i have nio doubt we will again. Db101. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

The op's question has been answered - the rules currently do not allow the OMB credit based solely on the cover title. Discussion of whether to amend the rules to allow this, and the relevant circumstances, should also be moved to the rules committee forum. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |
