I wanted to lay out some ground rules I feel important to sustaining a useful dialog for Feature Requests: useful and to the point, and leaving emotionalism out of it.

I thought that I had made that pretty clear, but perhaps I am mistaken?

What you made pretty clear is that you think you are somehow entitled as a brand-new user to come into these forums and "lay out some ground rules" YOU "feel important to sustaning a useful dialog for Feature Requests..."

This program has been around for many years as have these forums.  What arrogance you show by thinking that somehow YOU are better able to dictate how WE who have been here much longer than you should behave.  I would NEVER go into someone else's house and tell him how to behave. But for some reason you act as if you have some God-given right to tell us how we should behave here.  That is not your job.  Sure, make any and all the suggestions and feature requests you want.  It's not a matter of whether or not your requests are valid -- but it's your presuming that you are entitled to tell the rest of us how to behave is what we're upset about.

Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges.

It's a system and a community with a long history ad very traditional patterns, none of which you've put any effort into accustoming yourself to. You've got all of 1 accepted submission to your name, so I'll go back to the last thing I said to you; why not spend some time actually taking part in, not just profile system, but the community itself?

One of the worst tradition in this community is to bully newbies. This community would be  great without half a dozen of users that makes this forum one of the most unfriendly of the net, Ken Cole being obliged to imagine a reputation system to correct this fact. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

I think most feature requests of dav4is are interesting. That proves he used this program, and quickly saw his advantages, but also things that should be improved.

As I already wrote in another thread, request forum is a place to make requests. Each one is valid, and Ken choose to keep the idea or not. Other users may give their opinion (I'm interested by this new feature or I'm not), but should certainly not jump at requesters as barking dogs...

No-one is bothered by the requests, it's the attitude of this new guy, specifically his blind refusal to be social, and his attempts to tell US what this community is for and about. Do try to read what is being written.

Actually, yes, I do think I am entitled to my opinion, same as yourself.
Or do you disagree with that?
Or am I just not entitled to express my opinion?

Dictate? How could anyone possible construe my words as a desire to dictate anything?
I am merely expressing my opinion, to which I do believe I have a God-given right, as you put it.
If you feel that your behavior is in conflict with my opinion, then perhaps you have a right be be upset. The thing to do is ask yourself "Do you feel lucky, punk?" -- sorry, wrong question. Ask: "Why am I acting like an idiot when this guy is just expression his opinion?"

But I didn't tell anyone how to behave.
Unlike yourself.
You don't seem to have any qualms about telling ME how to behave, eh?
But then, it's your house, right?
Where is that written?

Some of your cronies have expressed a different opinion about the validity of my requests, or my right to make such requests -- without permission, I guess.

Well let's dissect this, newbi. First ofrf for someone who came here just "yesterday"(not literally) you are using language which is very inflammatory.

You have adopted an attitude, one which has been noted by many users, not just me, and you continue with "Who...me?": to which I can only respobd with Yes...YOU!

As I have said for your posts to this point, they are ALL a matter of record and there is absolutely no defense for them, your attitude or anything else. yes you have walked into our house and are pretending that YPOU have the ability to start dictating how things are going to be. Right down to saying that Profiler must do thius or that for YOU to consider it a TRUE Profiler. No one CARES what you think, or very few, at this point. The only possible explanation I can offer is that you have absolutely no idea of the impact of the words you are typing and the attitude that they bring with them. You aren't typing for yourself, you are typing for others to read and respond, hopefully in a positive way, but the attitude you have commincated almost from your post has not been a good one and it has gotten progressively worse as you insist on defending the indefensible.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that your signature is sub-conscious warning about yourself.

I read what you wrote, and the first part of my answer was about it. In fact, that user was attacked from his first posts, which were not agressive, and then things went wrong, as usual.

The second part of my answer concerns the title of this thread, and it would be great if all users could agree with that, which is far from being the case.

I quoted what you wrote about our community. I do not consider you among the "half dozen of users" who makes those forums the unfriendly place they are.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that. But I don't believe this IS an unfriendly place, at least in general. I certainly don't see a pattern of newbie abuse, just the opposite, in fact; for the most part I see people going out of their way to help a new person, even dav4is... not that he's gracious enough to take it on board if it's anything other than "keep on doing what you're doing."
