Basically, tweeter suggested what ninehours just posted here, Ken said that was fine, but also offered another alternative. And it never got any further than that. So now it's "first one in wins" again? Or ping-ponging between both types of handling? And, just as bad: having to go through a terrible ordeal when I want to contribute a simple cast correction to a profile where this is done differently than the method I've chosen: I'd have to reformat the dividers, contribute the change, and then change it all back. We really can't have two "equally valid" methods of handling for this - we desperately need everyone on the same page. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

And until one way or the other is in the rules as Ken said... both is valid. I decided I liked Ken's suggestion better so that is what I went with... at least until Ken makes one or the other official. So I have to ask you... until Ken makes the final decision (whether it is discussed and submitted in the rules committee forum or Ken just says "do this") what more can we do? we will always have some people liking one way and others liking another way. | | | Pete |

My post wasn't exclusively directed at you, Pete - I merely used a quote from your post to illustrate the problem. In doing so, I was hoping to (a) attract more opinions, and (b) hoping to attract Ken's attention. That's all. | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | ;) I have to say this seems like much ado about nothing. I have done many group dividers now, INCLUDING nested ones, and never had ANY kind of question of how to do it, I can even create the nests. Based on Ken's comments during beta rollout, the group divider should be as it appears On Screen and like I said the nesting poses NO challenge at all. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | Nesting does not work. The way the system is set, when you start another group divider it stops the previous group.
In a simple group
group a 1 2 3 4 5 the actor 1 credit shows up as within the actor credit block +group A
now if you try to nest Group a 1 2 group b 3 4
Where you would want the credit for actor 3 to show +group a + group b
it will only show +group b which may very well mean nothing in context.
if you nest instead
+group a 1 2 group A- Group b 3 4
Now actor 3 will show credit + Group a - Group B
Now if you end group b and try to come back into group a
1 2 Group a 3 4 Group b 5 6 group b end 7 8
Actor 7, while yu may very well want to be +group a
will actually show no group credit, which is not what we want
the only way for it to work
1 2 group a 3 4 Group a - group b 5 6 Group a <---------divider to return back to group a from sub group 7 8 group end
9 10
Now actor 3 will show +group a actor 5 will show +group a- group b actor 7 will show +group a actor 9 will show no group.
the way it is programmed, this is the only way to get the credit to display properly.

| Posted: | | | | As an example look at
A. I. 667068956726
if you get the profile and addit to your DB, then look up the actor credits for like "Clark Gregg". you will see what I am saying. |

| Posted: | | | | Let's use a real example to illustrate the problem. These are the credits for Minority Report, and how they display in Profiler:
Pre-Crime Tom Cruise as Chief John Anderton Max von Sydow as Director Lamar Burgess Steve Harris as Jad Neal McDonough as Fletcher Patrick Kilpatrick as Knott Jessica Capshaw as Evanna Pre-Crime Cops Keith Campbell Kirk B. R. Woller Klea Scott Frank Grillo Anna Maria Horsford as Casey Sarah Simmons as Lamar Burgess' Secretary Eugene Osment as Jad's Technician Office Workers James Henderson Vene Arcoraci Erica Ford as Employee Keith Flippen as Tour Guide Nathan Taylor as Kid Tourist Technicians Radmar Agana Jao Karina Logue Elizabeth Anne Smith Victoria Kelleher Jim Rash FBI Colin Farrell as Danny Witwer Stephen Ramsey as Jucket - Agent #1 Tom Choi as Paymen - Agent #2 Tom Whitenight as Price - Agent #3 Billy Morts as Foley - Agent #4
Now those are the first two groups of credits...Pre-Crime and FBI. The way it is set up now, the sub groups...Pre-Crime Cops, Office Workers & Technicians...are individual groups. There is no way to have them associated with the main group, Pre Crime. Where we should have two groups, as we have in the credits, we end up with 5. If we could have nesting, it would look like this:
Pre-Crime Tom Cruise as Chief John Anderton Max von Sydow as Director Lamar Burgess Steve Harris as Jad Neal McDonough as Fletcher Patrick Kilpatrick as Knott Jessica Capshaw as Evanna Pre-Crime Cops Keith Campbell Kirk B. R. Woller Klea Scott Frank Grillo Anna Maria Horsford as Casey Sarah Simmons as Lamar Burgess' Secretary Eugene Osment as Jad's Technician Office Workers James Henderson Vene Arcoraci Erica Ford as Employee Keith Flippen as Tour Guide Nathan Taylor as Kid Tourist Technicians Radmar Agana Jao Karina Logue Elizabeth Anne Smith Victoria Kelleher Jim Rash FBI Colin Farrell as Danny Witwer Stephen Ramsey as Jucket - Agent #1 Tom Choi as Paymen - Agent #2 Tom Whitenight as Price - Agent #3 Billy Morts as Foley - Agent #4 | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I know the movie, but it's bee awhile since i actually looked at the credits...maybe the BD this week with luck.
I thin I see the point you are making, Martian, though i do wonder
Are
Anna Maria Horsford as Casey Sarah Simmons as Lamar Burgess' Secretary Eugene Osment as Jad's Technician
Actually part of the Pre Crime Cops sub-divider
Erica Ford as Employee Keith Flippen as Tour Guide Nathan Taylor as Kid Tourist Part of the Office Workers, I don't know i would have to see the Screen.
But I think i see what you are saying. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

But I think i see what you are saying. Yes, everything above 'FBI' belongs to Pre-Crime.
