Thank you for thedetail, Lars, most useful. Remember though that I deall with things very conservatively. There are some known facts Amazon is one of the most litigious companies on the planet. This program does deal in the international world and is BASED in the US, So in my view Karsten's post was slef-serving and ill-informed and showing little or no consideration for other members of the community or for the program which i presume she enjoys the use of. I am not particularly interested in seeing Ken be forced to defend himself because of the actions of someone like that. As I said the proper platform for him to deal with it was PRIVATELY and not put a post up which could threaten the future of the program. In that regard, if it is legal where she is has absolutely no bearing on the potential impact his action could have elsewhere. That is my point. That is apparent ly what you fail to see in your analysis, which is all correct, but is not seeing the issue the way that I do.

As far as I am concerned Karsten should have NEVER made such a post publicly, it is NOT something I would do, because I am concerned about my fellow users and do not wish to take any actions which could result in some sort of an assault ebing launched...we've been there...kind of. I will always condemn such actions  because I don't really care what the laws are elsewhere, you need to realiz what impact such unwise statements COULD have on Invelos and the future of this program.

Now Lars, lets look at another side of this. We have absolutely no idea where the OP is from. So, let's assume for the sake of argument that he/she resides in the US. So, Karsten is in no danger, if we assume that International Copyright Laws do not apply to him/her, but sharing the link has unknowing placed the OP into a dangerous liability situation, now is this likely to cause a problem IF the OP only uses it as he says, not likely, unless there is technology that I am unaware which would reveal to IMDb that their data is being scraped and where it is being scraped. However, as also noted this is a forbidden piece of candy, which CAN be abused. We already know that from time to time users do manage to get such data into the Online, leaving it for others to repair, so if the OP were to decide to go ahead and abuse the piece of forbidden candy, well now we have an entirely different scenario, one which COULD directly affect Invelos and its users.

So Karsten's post was unwise at the very best, self-serving at the worst and should have been handled ONLY PRIVATELY.

I admit I only skimmed through this thread, but from what I gathered Karsten's (DJ Doena) post was the only on-topic one in these 3 pages. Have fun with your little crusade, though.

Firstly Karsten is a he.
Secondly if Ken is concerned about that users post, he will remove it.

Yes, Bonkerz must be impressed, his first post on the forums and his thread gets hijacked

These are the kinds of things that make me laugh...people making off-topic posts, complaining about other people's off-topic posts.  Why do I hear Alanis Morissette singing in my head?
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

So, let me understand you, Mathias. My first post, for which i have been attacked and insulted WAS on topic. So do I understand your concept of on-topic to mean that it is only on topic if the user gets the answer that HE wants.       That's a joke...right.

I didn't complain, I mentioned the only post that was on topic. If it was the only one, it should easily follow that mine wasn't.

BTW (and further off topic), as much as I like Alanis Morissette, she didn't really grasp the concept of the term you're alluding to in her little song.

Have to agree with Matthias here. This useless copyright debate had nothing to do with the openning topic user question and is really annoying... If you want to talk about law just go to the FreeAdvice Legal Forum

People names wasn't copyrighted materials the last time I've check

Complain probably wasn't the best word choice and, no, she did not.

Thanks, totally forgot about this feature!  You can also do it via the 'collection, flagged' menu.  Just used it to remove the cast/crew from all disc level profiles
