You have to admit, it sounds a bit stubborn. On 12 you were told no, but you submitted the other three anyway just because they were obscure enough to not getting votes on it, not because the voters there thought you were doingt the right thing. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I have notice that Cyberlinks Power DVD seems to at times to carry over the subtitle setting from the previous disc, probably depending on how you removed the disc.
I've seen this when I'm building a number of child profiles, just getting the times, subtitles, audio tracks, etc. or even the credits. I just click the eject go to the next disc. Guess I'll have to test that theory out. I just update my copy to latest fixes Ultra Version to 9.0.1530. I've noticed this for some time.
I just tried it and got multiple subtitles on"Cecilia Bartoli: Maria", (it was handy and six different subtitles), If you set a subtitle from DVD menu, then set set a different one from the pop-up menu you get two different subtitles. If you turn off the subtitles with the pop-upmenu the one set from the DVD menu stays on.
(addendum) This not happen with the second disv which is a documentary so it seems to be dependent on the DVD. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. BTW teacher, what audio track do I use for a classical disc with a number of arias sung in different languages? | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. | Posted: | | | | Now that's an interesting question, my friend. Does the disc menu define the Audio in any particular form. I guess I am glad I am not a fan of opera. One audio track multiple languages. This does happen in film and there the issue would be the menu definition of the track, English (for example) people who might be speaking Thermian, German, French or whatever would not be distinguished in any way. Of course if the disc menu doesn't define a language track at all... , maybe Other? Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | While maybe not ideal, I'd probably be tempted to use "Music Only". It doesn't specify a language in that and arias are music. It's possible that the most often use is for isolated scores of music without lyrics but it's probably the best option at this time, at least to me. |

| Posted: | | | | This particular DVD in question has only the the option LCPM sterio and DTS 5.1, no language and the indo box doesn't specify any either. The cover states only that the menu is in English.
Some opera DVD sets will specify the language on the box. Although rarely, some operas are sung in the language of the performance location rather than the original language. Generly the opera is written in the language of the composer. Although if you have seen "Amadeus" you know that Mozart got to write an opera in German, instead of the usual Italian of the day. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Usually an opera is sung in only one language, you aren't going to dub any musical performance. Most opera singer usually know ar least five languages. Hell, I can't even pronounce one, maybe that's why I've over 50 years in electronics and computers. Although I did rake Russian in college. When I was in USAF in Germany the base commander had everybody attend a German class. One of guys on my unit told the teacher, a female, he knew all the German he needed. She ask what is that. And he said in German, "What the cost Fraulein? " Needless to say, he was asked to leave. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. But that was because he used the term "Fräulein", not because of the money issue. (Nobody uses Fräulein anymore and most women are offended if you do) | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

This isn't usually the case. CC and SDH serve the same purpose and contain the same information, which would be transcription of sound in general, not just dialog. They are just different technical implementations. SDH looks better and works on any DVD player, so there's no reason to use CC unless you already have a master that contains it. |

And both CC and SDH are sometimes out of sync with the action -- so you'll read something like [knock at the door] a few seconds before the knock is actually heard. This probably doesn't matter for those who are hearing impaired as they may not hear the sound, but sometimes it throws off the timing for the viewer. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? | Posted: | | | | Since CC can only be viewed -and/ or activated within the TV set itself ., Sometimes when you turn on CC on the TV-, it stays on -for all types of viewing materials and TV channels selected.. SDH will work on ANY type of monitor that may not have CC option.. So SDH and CC are two different types of Animals. courtesy of wiki- quote "NTSC DVDs may carry closed captions in the Line 21 format. They are sent to the TV by the player and can be displayed with a TV's built-in decoder or a set-top decoder as usual. Independent of Line 21, video DVDs may also carry captions as a bitmap overlay which can be turned on and off via the DVD player, just like subtitles. This type of captioning is usually carried in a subtitle track labeled either "English for the hearing impaired" or, more recently, "SDH" (Subtitled for the Deaf and Hard of hearing). On some DVDs, the Line 21 captions may contain the same text as the subtitles; on others, only the Line 21 captions include the additional non-speech information needed for deaf and hard of hearing viewers. unquote"
All I have been trying to do this past week is to force a way to have this DVD Menu Feature available in Profiler .. It is a type of Sub title that is currently unavailable for us in Invelos 3.5 Profiler.. and should brought to the forefront of Contribution Discussion., It has already been brought up in Feature requests, in the past and then buried after 24 hours... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | Forcing it into profiles, in an area where it doesn't belong, isn't the way to do it. It has been asked for as a feature and, until it is given to us, we have to use the standard subtitle selection. It isn't perfect, but it is all we can do. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | but you have to agree that while it may look like a subtitle,, it is an optional feature on the DVD menu.,, token word here is feature.. The option Invelos gives us in Features: other features .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Quoting widescreenforever: Quote: but you have to agree that while it may look like a subtitle,, it is an optional feature on the DVD menu.,, token word here is feature.. The option Invelos gives us in Features: other features .. I agree and I'll even admit I "have" to agree that it is an option on the menu. I do not agree nor do I "have to" that it is an "optional feature" In your opinion it is a optional feature. In my opinion it is an option available on some DVDs that the program doesn't handle correctly yet. No different than audio formats missing from the program (there used to be a lot). Ken usually adds the options he feels are needed in his order of priority. This one has been discussed and added as a feature request. As Unicus said forcing something into a profile that doesn't belong isn't the way to handle program shortcomings. Use you tags, track the profiles with these types of subtitles and submit them properly when and if the program catches up. |
