I think that's a great idea.
We still have to update our own stuff locally and submit it though, correct? It's not a fix that's automatically going to download into our local's, is it? That would be correct. It will not automatically update your local database. | | | Hal |

That would be correct. It will not automatically update your local database. Cool. I'll start looking for instances over the next few days here. | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting tweeter: Quote: What if they are Uncredited (Downey, Jr. in The Incredible Hulk)? I just tried this and got:
Quote: Robert Downey, Jr. [Robert Downey Jr.] as Tony Stark (uncredited) We are incapable of selecting a Credited As name for Uncredited so what would this do if Approved and someone tried to update their local profile?
I think the obvious solution is for no Credited As to be used if the Uncredited box is checked and have the submitted name auto converted. This is just theory, but could you not just clear the "uncredited" box, empty the "credited as" field, then re-tick the "uncredited" box and submit the fix? PS: I think it's a great idea to standardize elements of the common name like this! | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | It was a long wait, but it was worth it. Thank you very much for this, Ken.
It's especially great since this is EXACTLY how I've been dealing with these since the very day the "credited as" system was introduced: always using the comma in common names, and using "credited as" to indicate whenever someone was credited with the commaless variant.
Moving on: couldn't we deal with the lack or presence of a space - for instance: J.K. Simmons vs. J. K. Simmons - in a similar manner too? | | | Last edited: by T!M |

For uncredited, the "Credited As" box is always grayed out in my profiles.
I just did what you described in the same profile locally, and it worked exactly as it should. I didn't modify anything before submitting. As it is with you the Credited As box is grayed out for Uncredited. The current profile (UPC: 025195041331) has Downey listed as: Quote: Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark (uncredited) which is the current CLT common name form (No comma). I simply re-contributed the existing profile and the Credited As box was filled by the filter without regard to the Uncredited check box state. The proposed update was: Quote: Robert Downey, Jr. [Robert Downey Jr.] as Tony Stark (uncredited) I'm hoping the filter can be tweaked to not engage the Credited As box if the Uncredited flag is set. | | | Bad movie? Ahhhh.... now I understand what you're saying. That looks like a bug. If the (uncredited) box is checked, it shouldn't put any value in there when it applies the filter. I'm updating all of my profiles manually to the correct format instead of relying on the filter, which only corrects the online. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | Yep, good catch. Corrected now, so uncredited entries will no longer set a Credited As field entry, but the filter will still alter the name. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative | | | Last edited: by Ken Cole |

Just tried again with The Incredible Hulk and the Uncredited Downey, Jr. submitted properly.
Thanks. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | When the change happens in the update, how should we comment on it?
I ended up contributing one and stated the 2 names were autoformated, would this be acceptable in the future? |

| Posted: | | | | Charlie: Based on what I have seen so far if the auto-format yields a different result from the On Screen data, then use Credited As field to capture that.

| Posted: | | | | No need as the filter will do that for you. I think he was wondering what he should enter as his contribution notes. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Like Tim I handled this issue the same way and I'm also very happy it has been resolved.
