How? Instead of knowing that a season has a length of 980 or 537 minutes you'd know that it actually has 980:12 or 536:33. There is a way a TV box set (read: parents profile) can be slightly different than summing each individual disk in the set (read: child profiles). Here's an example (it's a little unrealistic, but bear with me): Smith's Life is a two episode series. Each episode is 19 minutes and 20 seconds and on it's own DVD. The parent profile is 38 minutes and 40 seconds for the entire series, rounded up to 39 minutes for DVDP. Now, Child profile one is Episode 1 on DVD 1. It runs 19 minutes and 20 second, rounded down to 19 minutes for DVDP. Child profile two is Episode 2 on DVD 2. It runs 19 minutes and 20 second, rounded down to 19 minutes for DVDP. So now you have a parent profile of 39, but the child profiles only add up to 38 (19+19). I don't think this is going to make me want seconds in the runtime field, though. | | Posted: | | | | I would love to see this, in part because I have just begun working on a database that contains time info down to the second not only for the featured movie, but for the movie while commentary is playing, the length of all featurettes, and the length of trailers and other data. The purpose of this being to show the amount of overall material in each DVD purchase (if you open the DVD for the first time, how long will it take you to listen to, watch, and possibly read all of the data for that movie? What about compared to another film or even another release of the smae film?)
I know that the use of my idea is a probably a logshot for most people here, but given how accurate I want all of my data to be, you can probably understand why I wouldn't mind Profiler's data being just as accurate with as little rounding as possible. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.
