Wow... another barroom brawl.

I pretty much agree with kahless, why is it that at every chance these threads turn into flame wars? Perhaps it could be easier for all of us not to post if we don't agree with what's being said unless we have something positive to say, some affable correction or at least some constructive criticism? Of course, 'Flame Wars... Coming soon to a thread near you' is always pretty entertaining, but also terribly futile.

I mean, I have to admit I always chuckle when I read "You are in violation of the rules!!", I always expect "You will be assimilated!!" to follow that, but since I really don't have anything to say about it, I keep my keyboard shut.

Just two cents this side of the globe.
Funny, these cookies don't taste anything like Girl Scouts.

While I agree that the vulgarities were totally uneccessary (although tw*t isn't as extreme a word as it in the US), what I find most galling is that there are a lot of people who will take every opportunity to make snide remarks about other users.
In this situation, Lopek made a valid point that sarcastic comments can drive people away and is not healthy for the community. he may have put it a bit more diplomatically, but it was still a valid point. But others took it upon themselves to start insulting him, and thus we end up with nasty posts going backwards and forwards.
I've always thought that a forum that needed moderators was a forum full of people who I don't really want to converse with. But this place is getting worse, and soon a lot more people are going to be driven away unless the bad behaviour is stamped out.

My point was that all Lopek managed to do was magnify the offending posts and that it was unnecessary for him to say anything at all on the matter, even though I personally agreed with his comment, better to ignore those kind of ridiculous remarks and let them fade away into history than to put them under a mgnifying glass.

I also agree with Bodi's second paragraph.

I don't mean to insult the low volume contributors, but if edinhop thought he would hurt the Latin American user community by stopping contributing (when he had only submitted 49 - or only had 49 accepted) I think his showning a bit of ego inflation.

What struck me bout his initial post was the following quote:

ps. Sorry about my english writing. And I hope that you, new owners of the software, do not block my paid rights to use the software.

He is apparently doesn't realize that the "new owners" were part of the "old owners" before the rift.  But why, other than paranoia, does he fear that the "new owners" would block his paid rights to use the software?  I'm really confused.

Tw*t is pretty mild as expletives go, but here in the US, the counterpart is 'c#nt' and THAT will initiate a call to General Quarters, Man Your Battle Stations - This is NOT a Drill!  You call a female that, and you'd better be prepared to go to war, and you might even find your sorry butt in court for sexual harassment!

In Lopek's case, however, I don't think he was trying to stand up for the little guys as much as he was dinging somebody else's bell.  That's his main reason for existence from what I can tell.  As far as the increase in animosity, I think that is the result of people who ignored it for a looooong time are fed up and are starting to fight back.  I view that as a good thing, because it quickly isolates the real A-holes and makes it easier to avoid them.

I assumed it meant that he thought that contributing was a condition of use.

And Skip, you you often call posts you agree with "tripe"?

But your post was necessary? And by continuing the discussion you did not "put them under a mgnifying glass" further? The hypocrisy is mind bending.

FYI, the reason these were declined with "invalid source" was due to the inclusion of IMDB data, as indicated in the contribution notes.

What does that have to do with name calling?

OK, if the moderator of the "INVELOS" want to retire this topic, OK. The "only 49 contributions" are, of course, AFTER the 3.0 version, all others are not "considered". I use this software since 1998 (and, of course, post "some" contributions.

And sorry if the Latin America is nothing for you guys. Ask to the studios about that. And I have "only" 3582 DVDs. And my site has just 750.000 page views monthly, I know that maybe is nothing for americans.

And I´will not read any other messages from this forum or post any others, but I know what I´m talking about.

I will not discuss anymore for any reasons (racism, dudes, wrong informations etc.)

Sorry to post a simple message here.

Sorry, sorry, sorry, is that what you want?

Bye.

Ah, but it all boils down to is the source of the information.  The profiles here required the data come from the DVD and not a database site such as IMDB or even your site which falls into the same category.

So unless the source of your web site is the 3,582 DVDs in your collection, it's not valid.

Simple as that.
