This should put an end to a few of the current debates. I will make the necessary changes to the "Case Types" thread later this afternoon.. | | | Dan |

| Posted: August 20, 2007 9:08 PM | | | | I have to re-iterate what RHo and T!m said earlier.
There is no need for a case type of "Slip Case" (or "Boxset")
All we need is a single check box for "Slip Case" (whether it has one opening or two is irrelevant).
The case type should be whatever the "inner" case is and then if it has an outer "covering", check the "Slip Case" check box.
Someone please explain to me why this arrangement would not work and would not be extremely simple to understand and implement.
BTW, I am all in favor of the addition of the other case types. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: August 20, 2007 9:09 PM by hal9g |

| Posted: August 21, 2007 2:19 PM | | | | If we reduce Slip Case to a checkbox then the case type for for all of those "box set" profiles goes away. That is why I feel that these should be listed as a case type rather than a check box. | | | Dan |

| Posted: August 21, 2007 4:36 PM | | | | I understand what you're saying, Dan.
However if Slip Case were to be included in the drop-down list, my prediction would be that we would end up with heated discussions on what constitutes an inner case, on whether or not a digipak can hold multiple discs etc. etc. (we've all seen it in this and other threads). I'm afraid, even if Ken were to give his "final verdict" on this, we would end up having profiles changing back and forth etc.
In addition, I think your approach would create problems with single-movie editions where the disc is packed in a keep case which in turn is packed in a slipcase. Which of the two should be used?
Personally, I wouldn't mind to have the option of a ticked checkbox for Slip Case in combination with a blank dropdown menu for parent profiles only, provided there are child profiles with a specification of the case type actually holding the discs. Thus, the starting point for a "rule" on this issue would be that at the level of child profiles, the dropdown list must be used to indicate the case type holding the disc. At the level of parent profiles, you could then use either the checkbox if there is a - separate - slipcase holding all the "children" or the dropdown list if there is another form of packaging holding all the children (e.g. a fat keepcase).
For single-level profiles, in the example I gave you could use both the dropdown list (to indicate what's holding the disc) and the checkbox.
Just a thought - perhaps there are objections to such a solution I haven't thought of yet. | | | Last edited: August 21, 2007 4:47 PM by dee1959jay |

Without looking around the forums here too deeply, when is 3.1 to be released? Not next Tuesday is it? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Not next Tuesday is it? No, not next Tuesday, well at least probably not. Ken is currently targeting Monday as release day for the first beta. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |
