Hal, the ones you've submitted that i have seen are showing correctly also. Thanks. I figured that Ken would fix it from his side. | | | Hal |

Remember that the localities.xod carries the ratings infomation, and is downloaded to your PC on a refresh in order to stay in sync with new online definitions. At least I think that is how it works. | Posted: | | | | I don't believe that is what caused our problem though. We had to refresh the online profile list just to get the option to have Unrated as a rating this morning anyway. So it was already done. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Curiously, I seem to be unable to force a download of localities.xod. I've tried <menu>Online\Refresh Online Profiles List... but there is no change to C:\Program Files\DVD Profiler\Media\localities.xod. (I know there's no change because I've been running a specially edited version for some time, and unless, by some obsure coincidence, the new rating is "UR" with tag "Unrated by Chris" then I think I would recognise an updated file when I see it! ) In fact I've even removed localities.xod from the media directory and tried to refresh the profiles list, expecting localities.xod to be re-installed, but without success. So am I (a) looking in the right place and (b) using the right procedure to force an update, or what? # | | | Chris |

| Posted: | | | | Question for Ken or anyone who can link me to what he said about it (I don't want this to drag on for 10 pages): For a movie with the theatrical and unrated version, if the front says Unrated but the back says Not Rated, what is the proper rating under the new rule?
Again, I do not want this to go on for pages upon pages, at this point just want a straight answer... Is it Unrated or the Theatrical Rating? |

According to this rule: Quote: For DVDs with more than one rating shown (e.g. a DVD which includes an R and Unrated version), use the highest applicable rating with the following scale:

Again, I do not want this to go on for pages upon pages, at this point just want a straight answer... Is it Unrated or the Theatrical Rating? It would be unrated... From the Rules: Quote: * For localities which offer it as a choice, enter "Unrated" for DVDs which: o Contain an alternate version of a film which received a theatrical rating, and which have no rating or are marked "NR" or "Not Rated" o OR include "Unrated" on the front or back cover of the case * Use "NR" for DVDs which do not qualify for the "Unrated" rating, and which have no rating or are marked "NR" or "Not Rated" * Use the “Adult” rating for all Adult films.
For DVDs with more than one rating shown (e.g. a DVD which includes an R and Unrated version), use the highest applicable rating with the following scale: * NR < Board Rating < Unrated < Adult. Looking at the rules... The first thing I put in bold shows it don't matter if it is on the front or the back. The second thing I put in bold shows we use the highest rating And what I put in Red shows the only thing higher the Unrated is Adult. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Ah, ok. I read the "<" in the less than/greater than context thus if it says Not Rated on the back cover with the Board Rating, the Board Rating is higher than NR (Not Rated < Board Rating) and since this part of the rule is separate from the other, the fact is says Unrated on the front cover doesn't matter...
Not trying to argue, just wanted to be clear before I submitted these. |

Not trying to argue, just wanted to be clear before I submitted these. I think the first part of the rule tells us how to define an "Unrated" rating, and the second part tells us what to do if there is more than one rating on the cover. |

| Posted: | | | | Ok, just so I'm reading this right:
According the rules: •Use "NR" for DVDs which do not qualify for the "Unrated" rating, and which have no rating or are marked "NR" or "Not Rated"
So, I have a kid's cartoon (based on the Wizard of Oz) that has "unrated" on the back cover.
This would still get a NR because it does not qualify for Unrated, which is the highest rating, correct?
Came across another one: South Park: Imaginationland. It's NR on the back, but the front has "Uncensored Director's Cut." This would be Unrated, correct? | | | Lori | | | Last edited: by LJG |

Personally, I'd put that one back in the cupboard and forget I ever saw the "unrated" on the back cover! Unfortunately, because of the word "or" in: OR include "Unrated" on the front or back cover of the case, we should mark the profile as "Unrated". Personally I would have preferred the word "and" instead, which would have solved your problem. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

One of the things that qualifies using Unrated is if there is Unrated anywhere on the case.... Quote: * For localities which offer it as a choice, enter "Unrated" for DVDs which: o Contain an alternate version of a film which received a theatrical rating, and which have no rating or are marked "NR" or "Not Rated" o OR include "Unrated" on the front or back cover of the case * Use "NR" for DVDs which do not qualify for the "Unrated" rating, and which have no rating or are marked "NR" or "Not Rated" * Use the “Adult” rating for all Adult films.
For DVDs with more than one rating shown (e.g. a DVD which includes an R and Unrated version), use the highest applicable rating with the following scale:
* NR < Board Rating < Unrated < Adult. The rule in bold shows if Unrated is on either front or back of case... it gets unrated. | | | Pete |

While you are right... that would have fixed the problem for this release... it would have also made it so we couldn't put it for others. I personally glad he put it as OR | | | Pete |
